Racine, WI – Dannisha Ashley Weatherspoon, “Dee” of Racine, Wisconsin, departed this life on January 21, 2022, at the age of 29.

Dee was born on November 29, 1992, to Collisce Johnson of Milwaukee, WI and Danny Peterson of Michigan City, Indiana.

Dannisha was transitioned from the hospital to the home of her temporary foster parents Leonard and Clementine Chmielewski. For the first 3 years of life, Clem and Lenny protected and loved Dee as their own. When time for permanent placement came, they helped to ensure Dee was placed in the right home, with a family that would also love and protect her. They also made sure that they would be able to keep a connection to her as she grew.

In 1995 Kelvin and Debra Weatherspoon were contacted by Milwaukee Social Services about the possibility of adopting Dannisha. The Weatherspoon’s adopted Dannisha’s older brother Landon Weatherspoon in 1991. They were excited to enlarge their family and have Landon’s biological sister in the home with him.

Dannisha had a passion for life. She was the mother of 2 amazing daughters whom she loved to spend time with. She enjoyed cooking, hanging out with friends, taking pictures and took pride in her appearance. Dannisha had most recently dreamed of continuing her education to become an esthetician and would have started her classes in March of 2022.

Dannisha will be immensely missed by all of her family and friends. She leaves to cherish her memory 2 daughters Deonna and Savanna. Her biological father Danny Peterson and 12 siblings, 5 maternal siblings, 7 foster siblings and two special foster siblings Jackie Chmielewski and Tommy Dunbar. She is further survived by her parents Kelvin and Debra Weatherspoon, siblings Kelvin (Ashley) Weatherspoon Jr., Sondra (Michael) Hunter, Elise (Jeremy) Scott, Angelica Reed, Landon Weatherspoon, her special beloved cousin Edward B. Jones and grandparents Emma Johnson, Clifton Reed, Luella Wainwright, Mary Weatherspoon and a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

Dannisha was preceded in death by her birth mother, Collisce Johnson and brother Joseph McBeth, her foster parents, Lenny and Clem Chmielewski and grandfather Elzie Weatherspoon.

The Ceremony to Celebrate Her Life will be held at Dominion Church of God MPGT 402 Ninth Street, Racine WI on Saturday, February 5, 2022, 11:00am.  Visitation will be at the church 10:00am – 11:00am.
