George McDonald, 73, passed away at Lincoln Lutheran Nursing and Rehab Center in Racine on April 26, 2024. George was born in Clark County, Mississippi on July 20, 1950, son of the late Wilmer and Anne (nee: Cooley) McDonald. George attended Shirley Owens High School in Quitman, MS. George moved to Racine at an early age in 1969, and began working at Belle City Steel Casting until closing in 2002. He was later employed at Quick Cable Corporation until retiring.

George looked forward to traveling back to Mississippi once or twice a year, but was always ready to return home within a couple of days. He loved fishing, playing cards, shooting pool, and was known for his talent at the dart board.ย  He enjoyed sitting around talking with his siblings and his contagious laugh could be sparked from the simplest thing.ย  He also enjoyed watching westerns and old reruns of westerns.

George is survived by his children: Damon Morris, Las Vegas, NV, George Jr., Ann Marie (Monte) Nelson, both of Kenosha, WI, and Michael Owens of Atlanta GA. Grandchildren; Tarvarionte Turner, Briana White, DeMonte Nelson, Montenia Nelson, and Ladarion Morris, Trevell Prather, Quincy Moss, & Michael Owens, Jr. Five Great Grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Jeanette McDonald of Quitman, Mississippi, Katherine (Ronnie) Horne of Vossburg, Mississippi, and Grady (Fay) McDonald of Newton, Mississippi; and a special friend, Shirley Bell of Racine; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. George was preceded in death by his two brothers Willie E. (Sonny) McDonald Sr. and Wilmer McDonald; Special Aunt, Velma McCarty, and a special sister in-law Annie L. McDonald.

Homegoing celebration will be held in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 11:00 am with Elder Phil Hanyard officiating. Viewing will be in the funeral home on Saturday from 10-11 am.
