Service Details

Inurnment for David will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 21731 Spring Street, Union Grove on Monday, January 6, 2025 at 3:00PM. Military honors will follow. Those planning to attend are to meet in the administration building parking lot by 2:45PM.

David Richard Smith, age 75, passed away at Hospice Alliance – Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie on Tuesday, November 26, 2024.

David was born in Sturtevant to Dennis and Joyce (nee: Braatz) Smith on November 21, 1949. A 1967 graduate of Horlick High School, David went to faithfully serve our country with the U.S. Navy from 1971 – 1975. He was employed by CNH as a machine repair technician for over 20 years. On April 10, 1976, David was united in marriage with Cathy Tepley. David loved to be up north with family and friends, where they would spend time fishing and enjoying the sights and sounds of nature.

Surviving are his wife, Cathy; children, Jason (Courtney) Smith, Justin (Britane) Smith, Melissa Smith and Correy (Steve) Goodwin; his siblings and their spouses, Duane (Pam) Smith, Linda (Robert) Gonzalez, Darlene (Robert) McGrath, Dick (Karen) Smith, Susan (Darrell) Rockhill, Jan Smith, Donald (Suechen) Smith and Judith Minor. David was preceded in death by his daughter, Kristi Moore; his parents, Dennis and Joyce; brother, Dennis Smith; sisters, Sandra Davis and Marj Smith.

    RIP my brother Dave. We will miss you everyday. Hugs to the family as they grieve your loss. One of my early memories was when you and Cathy meet up with Chris and I in Lake Havasu Arizona. In 1975. We were there on our honeymoon visiting with mom and dad.

    You were the Best Man at our Wedding. You were so tan from laying on the beach the week before, you made us all look so pale. So many good memories. Will miss you David, Gary was friends with you his whole life. Condolences to your whole family.
