Sturtevant – Chester Franiuk, age 91, passed away at Ridgewood Care Center on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.

Chester was born in Peshtigo, WI on April 8, 1934 to the late Adam and Genevieve “Jennie” (nee: Poczebyt) Franiuk. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Peshtigo High School in 1952. Chet was a talented automobile mechanic – having worked at several area full-service filling station / car repair shops.

He was avid model railroad train enthusiast. Chet enjoyed the great outdoors, nature, reading, baseball, bowling and spoiling his cats. He had a unique sense of humor, who was quite the critic about just about everything, and always looked forward to good conversation.

Surviving are his sons, Allen Franiuk and Steve Franiuk; daughter, Bonnie Riggins; grandchildren, Glen “Luc” Franiuk and Vanessa Franiuk; brothers, John and Richard Franiuk; and sister, Amelia “Millie” Feeley. In addition to his parents, Chet was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Jane (nee: Gerczak) Franiuk (passed away August 19, 2019); his son, Glen Franiuk; brothers, Wally, Edward and Thomas; and sister, Josephine.

Private services will be held to celebrate Chester’s life.

My family and I would like to thank you and your staff for all the kindness and sincere expressions of sympathy that you extended to us during the loss of my son, Todd Swanson. We appreciate all the extra special things you did to help us through this very difficult time. We didn’t have to think ahead, we just had to be there while every little detail was taken care of by you and your staff. This made an impression on everyone that came, and I will never forget it. Thank you from all of us.
