Steven J. Jurasewicz

Sep 6, 1955 – Apr 17, 2021

Service Details

A memorial service celebrating Steve’s life will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 12 O’clock Noon in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home.  Friends may meet with the family on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorial Suggestions

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial remembrances to either the Kenosha Alano Club, 630 56th Street, Kenosha, WI 53140, or St. Anne Catholic Church, 9091 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158.

Steven J. Jurasewicz, age 65 of Kenosha, passed away unexpectedly (but peacefully) on Saturday, April 17, 2021. Steve was born on September 6, 1955, son of the late Stanley and Elizabeth (nee Eichler) Jurasewicz.  He was a 1973 graduate of St. Joseph High School and continued his education at University of WI – Parkside in Business Management.

In 1978, Steve met his future bride, Diane (nee: Stephan) on his and his father’s Christmas tree sales lot. They were married on November 6, 1982 at St. Mary Catholic Church – a date settled on to fit between Steve’s duck hunting and deer hunting. In their 38 years of marriage, they enjoyed trips to St. Marten, Florida, Mexico and Aruba and several scenic vacations to Minocqua and across Northern Wisconsin. In his early years, he and his friends played in the city softball league. Steve joined many of those same friends on their annual snowmobiling trip to St. Germaine, WI.

After working a few years with Frost Company of Kenosha, Steve began his own decades-long landscape business that included residential and commercial projects and snow plowing. At the time of his death, he was employed with Kenosha Grounds Care (Sebert Landscape) in Pleasant Prairie, but it was selling Christmas trees and firewood where he was most passionate, genuinely appreciating the connection to his customers year after year.

Steve was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and especially fishing – carefully selecting his lures and poles, finding that perfect “hot spot” on inland lakes and simply relaxing once he cast his lines to reel in that prized bluegill.

Steve was sincerely grateful for his many friends of Bill W. Since 1985, he valued their time spent together, their kindness and the stories (!) they shared. Most of all, he treasured their loyal bond of friendship.

Survivors include his wife, Diane; step-mother, Alice Jurasewicz of Kenosha, WI; brother, Michael (Carla) Jurasewicz of Neenah, WI; sister, Ann Jurasewicz of Racine, WI; cousin, Lisa (John) Robin-Bennett of Honey Creek, WI; cousin, Lee Robin of Union Grove, WI; brothers-in-law, James (Barb) of Waukesha, WI and Thomas (Sheila Miskowski) Stephan of Oconomowoc, WI; sisters-in-law, Elaine (Michael) Rolens, of New Baden, IL and Kathleen (Jeffery) Stapleton of Cottage Grove, WI; nephews, Timothy Jurasewicz of Wauwatosa, WI, Matthew (Kelly) Jurasewicz of Oregon, WI, Adam (Marie) Stapleton of Sun Prairie, WI, and Jonathan (AJ) Rolens of Michigan; nieces, Colleen (Bob) Thill of Sheboygan, WI, Suzanne (Dylan) Anderson of Cottage Grove, WI, Melissa (David) Faught, and several great-nephews and great-nieces.

J-man! The impact of your friendship on my life will never be lessened. Our “duck blind logic” discussions were some of the foundations for how to live our lives. We covered many stages of our lives together and I will miss you deeply. Give Stosh a hug for me! J-man

Continuing in prayer for your comfort my dear friend… 🙏

One of the best laugh lines I ever heard was uttered by Steve as he referred to his love of bakery:
    “I could be an ENTENMANNologist!”
    What a character…

    Love you…Cindy H

Bernie and I are so sorry to hear about Steve’s passing. I was just thinking about him the other day and wishing he could come to Tennessee and work his magic in our yard, as well as wondering how you two were doing. I think so often about the beautiful landscaping he did for us for our Lakeshore Drive home AND what great Christmas Trees he provided us with. Your family will definitely be in our thoughts and prayers, Diane.

I wish I had known you Steve. My name is Rachel and I’m a friend of Bill W’s. I lost my husband in October to the virus. I have been a friend of Bill W’s for 34 years. My husband’s name is David and when you meet up with him in the great beyond say hi for me and tell him his wife Rachel is okay. He was a friend of Bill W’s alsoand so you can share a lemonade together. You sound like quite a wonderful person and your legacy will live on for years and years.
