Austin Carl Standiford

vet
Feb 7, 1922 – Jul 2, 2014

Austin Carl Standiford, age 92, passed away on July 22, 2014.  He was born on February 7, 1922, in Hillsboro, WI.  He was born the son of Charles Standiford and Ella (nee: Showen) Standiford.  Austin was one of thirteen children.  Austin graduated from Norwalk High School in 1940 and moved to Racine, WI, the same year.  Austin was a member of the United Stated Navy from 1942-1946, where he served in World War II.  Austin married the love of his live, Georgiana Mary (nee: Belongia) Standiford, on February, 12, 1949, in Waukegan, IL.  They we married for 58 beautiful years.  Austin was employed by Massey-Harris and then Twin Disc where he retired in 1984.  He was a member of the twenty year club at Twin Disc.  In his younger days Austin enjoyed Bowling and golf.  He got pretty competitive in the game of cribbage with his granddaughter, Debbie and great grandson Craig.  Austin’s wager would always be “Whoever loses has to buy Dairy Queen for everyone”.  The family would like to give him a big “Thank You” for all of the Dairy Queen that they have enjoyed, because he would always buy it anyway win or lose.
Austin is survived by his granddaughter, Debra (Kai) Jerdee; great grandchildren, Cara Jerdee and Craig Jerdee; son in law, Neil Hutchinson; a special friend and helper, Chuck Krepelan, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Austin was preceded in death by both of his parents; wife, Georgiana; and twelve siblings.  The Inurnment service will take place at Graceland Cemetery, on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 2:00pm.
