
Racine—Barbara Ann Freeman, 72, passed away unexpectedly at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints ER on Friday, October 1, 2010. Barbara was born in Tupelo, Mississippi on September 13, 1938 to the late N.J. and Evie (nee: Northington) McGee. She has lived in Racine since 1958. On August 9, 1992 Barbara was united in marriage with Louis C. Freeman, who preceded her in death on July 26, 1999.
With a profound Christian faith, she was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and being active in the Prayer Circle. Barbara was employed by the Case Corp. until her retirement. Among her interests, she enjoyed bowling, singing and cooking. Above all, Barbara was constantly helping out family and friends in need. She will be dearly missed.
Surviving are her children, Larry Smith, Annie Smith, Thelma Wiggins and Danny (Jennifer) Smith; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother, O’Neal (Marcella) McGee; sisters, Ernestine McGlaun and Willie Esther (Ray) Satterwhite; sister-in-law, Jural McGee; aunts, Mattie Berry and Neda Northington; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her daughters, Evelyn Smith and Sonia Freeman; great-grandchild, LaVonte Walton; brother, Rev. Lewis McGee; and grandparents, Ariea and Solomon McGee, Ara and Nannie Northington.
Homegoing services will be celebrated on Thursday, October 7, 2010 at 11:00 am in Second Missionary Baptist Church, 1250 Lathrop Avenue, with Rev. J. Mark Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Viewing will be at the church on Thursday from 10-11 am.
