Barbara Kuhn

Mar 1, 1932 – Mar 1, 2010

Racine – Barbara (nee: Wilhelm) Kuhn, passed away peacefully on her 78th Birthday, Monday, March 1, 2010 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center after suffering a stroke on Sunday. Barbara was born in Yugoslavia on March 1, 1932 to the late Johann and Anna (nee: Wagner) Wilhelm. She has lived in Racine since 1952. On August 29, 1953 in St. Mary’s Catholic Church she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Telesfor “Theo” Kuhn, who preceded her in death on July 31, 1992. During her career, Barbara had been employed with Motor Specialty and Wisconsin Bell. She was an extremely devoted member of St. Lucy Catholic Church, where she volunteered countless hours with the food pantry, festivals, St. Rose Meal Program, and funeral committee, just to name a few. Her impeccable yard reflected Barbara’s gift for gardening and also created the perfect aviary for all types of birds. Barbara will be forever remembered for her infectious smile, sweet personality and generous heart. Above all, her world revolved around family and she treasured every moment spent with them – including her precious cat, Mickey. Surviving are her three daughters and sons-in-law, Marion (Chuck) Julius, Debe (Warren) Dahlke and Linda (Wayne) Cushman, all of Racine; grandchildren, Chuck (Cherie) Julius, Lauren Julius, Briannon (fiancé, Mark Dubiel) Dahlke, Eric (Laura) Dahlke, Warren Dahlke, Jr., Chad (Kristie) Cushman, Adam (Amy) Cushman and Ryan (fiancé, Courtney Suwalski) Cushman; great-grandchildren, Charlie and Cayla Julius; Cali and Caitlin Beere, Ayja and Eli Cushman; sisters, Katharina Luck, Rosalia (Johann) Nehr, Magdalena Ruch and Theresia (Heinrich) Lantz; brother-in-law, Mike (Maria) Morawicz; niece, Marion Morawicz; nephew, Gary (Lynn) Morawicz; many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends (both in the United States and Germany) too numerous to mention by name. In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved son, Michael Kuhn, on March 1, 1989; sisters, Maria (Walter) Roth and Veronika (Erich) Bachmann; brother, Franz (Klara) Wilhelm; brother-in-law, Helmut Luck; and by mother-in-law, Martha (Heinrich) Schawe. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at 1:00 pm in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Entombment will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in St. Lucy Church on Thursday from 11 am – 1 pm. In memory of Barbara, memorials to St. Lucy Church or to one’s favorite charity have been suggested. A special note of thanks to the entire staff of Wheaton Franciscan- All Saints, especially Stacy R.N. in the emergency room; James P. Gierahn, MD; Sue Cooper, NP; and the many dedicated nurses for the compassionate care and support in our Mother’s time of need. May God bless all of you!

Testimonials

Thank you from Raymond Szymanski Family

I would like to thank Mike Langendorf, Bill Althaus and the rest of the staff for the wonderful celebration of the life for my father Raymond L. Szymanski who was a WWII veteran. I especially appreciate how much you really listen and the questions you asked regarding who my father was and what he was all about. Those details showed up in every part of the service from the flowers, the music, the thank you’s, pictures, obituary, outdoor military honors, etc. etc. My father would have been so grateful for the way you honored his life. I also received phone calls from family and friends indicating how beautiful the service was in every way. You and your staff definitely go above and beyond. You treat everyone like family and your compassion is so genuine. There should be more people in the world just like all of you. No words can express our gratitude for all you have done for myself, my father and our family. Thank you so very much and may the Lord bless you and yours! Sincerely Terri Carls and the Szymanski Family
