
Mount Pleasant – Barbara Lynn Baars, 67, passed away at United Hospital System in Kenosha on Monday, March 10, 2014.
She was born in New York on August 5, 1946, the daughter of late Clifford and Vernette (nee: Zellmer) Baars, Sr., however, she resided most of her life the Racine area.
Barbara lived with cerebral palsy but experienced life to the fullest. She worked in her family’s True Value Hardware store in Sturtevant for many years as their bookkeeper. Barbara also attended Holy Cross Lutheran Church. She was happiest staying in touch with family and friends either by personal visits or through computer and phone communication.
She is survived by her brother, Clifford (Mayuree) Baars, Jr.; her nephews and nieces, Kevin, Wayne, Mollie and Malinda Baars and her long term special friend and companion, David Wickham all of the Racine area.
Family and friends are invited to meet at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, March 14, 2014 from 9:30 – 11:00 a.m. for a visitation to meet with the family. A service remembering and celebrating her life will follow at 11:00 a.m. A private interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials have been suggested to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
The Baars family thanks all of the friends and caregivers that were a part of Barbara’s life. Your love and assistance was deeply appreciated. She cherished each one of you.

I was honored in so many ways to know Barbara. She was a true inspiration to all who knew her. Her wit and wonder were great to behold. Her thoughtful e-mails will be missed. I believe her to be at peace in her savior’s arms. She loved angels and now she is with them.

So deeply sorry to learn of Barb’s passing. She was one of my favorite people in life ever since our Camp Wawbeek days of long ago. I will always be honored that Barb was a bridesmaid in our wedding. We will be coming to say our good-byes to this sweet angel on Friday.
