
Betty G. Deverney, 81, passed away in Wheaton Franciscan-All Saints on Friday, April 1, 2011. She was born in Racine on May 3, 1929, the daughter of the late John and Elnora (nee: Calvin) Ruggeri.
Betty met Richard M. Deverney while roller skating; and on May 7, 1949, they were married. Richard preceded her in death on April 11, 1987. Betty and Richard enjoyed square dancing, round dancing and clogging. Betty also loved to knit and crochet. When living in Racine, she was a long time member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
Surviving are her three sons, Richard W. (Carol) Deverney, Robert M. (Sharon) Deverney, all of Racine, and Ronald S. (Kathy) Deverney, of Somers; two granddaughters, Tiffany N. Gonzales, Amber Deverney; and three great-granddaughters, Kathleen Redding, Marie Redding and Lillian Gonzales, all of Racine. Her nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends further survive her. In addition to her husband and her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her sister Berna Mae Tolliver, and close friend Vern Penn.
There will be a visitation at the funeral home, here in Racine, on Tuesday April 5th; from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Betty will then be taken to Eagle River where a funeral service will be held at the Gaffney-Busha Funeral Home, 304 Division St., Eagle River, WI, on Saturday, April 9th at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be in the Gaffney Busha Funeral Home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Service. Burial will be in the Eagle River Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, and because of transportation, the family would prefer you make donations to your favorite charity.
The family would like to publicly thank all the doctor and staff of Wheaton-Franciscan-All Saints for their compassion and concern while caring for Betty.
