Nov 4, 1928 – Dec 26, 2011

Mrs. Betty Lou Nelson, 83, passed away with her family by her side on December 26, 2011.

She was born in Mount Vernon, Il on November 4, 1928, the daughter of the Artie T. and Melba F. (nee: Hetser) Rice.  She received her education in Illinois.  In 1950 she married Clarence T. Nelson.  He preceded her in death on August 16, 1996.

Betty was a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 1391, the Evangelical United Methodist Church and the Illinois Historical Society.

Her survivors include her children, Cynthia, Sandra and Scott and her grandchildren, Keith, Craig and Katie.

Friends are invited to meet at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. for the celebration of Betty’s life and funeral service with John Fleming officiating.  Her interment will follow next to her beloved Clarence at West Lawn Memorial Park.  There will be a visitation in the funeral home on Friday from 9-10 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Alliance are appreciated.

A very special thank you to Society’s Assets and Hospice Alliance for the top notch attention and genuine compassion extended toward Betty and her family while under their care.

Testimonials

David Fleury

Mike,
Words cannot adequately convey our gratitude for all you did to honor our family member and friend, Mert Fleury. Like with her husband Ray, years ago, you and your staff went above and beyond to help us through this difficult time and to give Mert a wonderful celebration of her life. Every detail was considered, all of our requests were given unfailing attention, and the little extras took our breath away. Every sad feeling and every tear was matched two-fold with feelings of gratitude and comfort because of what you did. We will be forever grateful!
The Fleury Family
