Blanche Lee Mayes

Service Details

A Private Celebration of Blanche’s Life will be held by her immediate family only and a larger memorial service held in the summer of 2022 when COVID-19 cases are down, and it is safe for larger gatherings.

Racine, WI – Blanche Lee (nee: Brown) Mayes, affectionately known as “Noonie” was born October 12, 1956, to the late Bessie Mae Brown and Albert Cotton in Anguilla, Mississippi.

Blanche confessed Christ at an early age at True Light M.B. Church in Anguilla, Mississippi. After moving to Racine, WI in the early 1980s, she was a long time member of Second Missionary Baptist Church and most recently Christ Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

Blanche graduated from Anguilla High School, class of 1976. She later attended Gateway Technical College in Racine, WI.  She worked various social service jobs during her lifetime and impacted many people.

Blanche was proceeded in death by her late husband Waverly Mayes, two sisters; Sezzie Townsend and Jeanette Brown and a nephew, Anthony Bush.

Blanche, age 65, made her heavenly transition on January 14, 2022, at Ascension – All Saints Hospital in Racine, Wisconsin.

Blanche was a loving wife, sister, aunt, cousin and friend.  She was known by all for her cooking especially for her pies and cakes.  She loved her family dearly.

She leaves to cherish her memories 2 sons and 1 daughter Maurice, Myron and Nicole Brown, all of Racine, WI; one brother Howard Brown of Greenville, MS; five sisters Helen Jean Bush of Greenville, MS, Calvernell Brown and Ethel Brown both of Racine, WI, Cora (William) Corley of Piscataway, NJ, and Georgia (Dennis) Jenkins of Louise, MS; 1 granddaughter and 10 grandsons Champagne, Maurice Jr., Martavion, Myron Jr., Akeele, Marquise, Marion, Jayce, Jeremiah, Major and Messiah all of Racine, WI and a special niece Shewanna Johnson, who she called “daughter.”

A Private Celebration of Blanche’s Life will be held by her immediate family only and a larger memorial service held in the summer of 2022 when COVID-19 cases are down, and it is safe for larger gatherings.

The Mayes and Brown Family would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank You” to all who have called, sent flowers, or said a prayer for us during this difficult time.  We appreciate all the love and support that has been shown to our family.  May God Bless You.
