Callie Lavern Hodges

Aug 25, 1947 – Oct 7, 2014

~~Racine-Callie Hodges, 67, passed away peacefully on October 7th, 2014 in her home surrounded by her children after a brief illness.

She was born in the town of Houston, MS on August 25, 1947, to the union of late Muldrow and Willie Bell (nee: Pulliam) Hodges.  Callie accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a very early age and was a member of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church where she was a devoted member that faithfully served on a number of committees.  She retired in 2013 from Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Hospital after working for 44  years, as a Health Unit Coordinator.  Callie believed in serving the community in which she lived and did so by volunteering in a variety of civic and non-profit organizations to include the Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation, NAACP and through her church.  Callie lived her life to the fullest and in her leisure she enjoyed spending time with family, shopping, traveling, reading and spending “girl” time with her social birthday club.

Left to honor Callie and cherish her memories are her son; Marraco (Felesa) Hodges of Orlando, FL, her daughter; Yolanda Hodges of Memphis, TN; her grandchildren; Marraco Hodges, Jr. and Mykarri Hodges both of Orlando, FL, her sister and brothers; John Wesley Pulliam of Houston, MS, Willie Mae (Thomas) Brinker of Springfield, IL, U.S. “Ted” Hodges of Racine, and brother-in-law; Samuel Matthews of Rollingfork, MS.  Callie is also survived by her many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.  She was preceded in death by her brothers; M.L. Hodges and Mallie Pulliam, and sister’s; Olivia Baldwin, Lucy Sherrod, Carrie Matthews and Debra Hodges West.   Callie will be remembered as an outgoing, kind person who loved people.  She will be greatly missed by all that were blessed to love and know her.

Family, friends and others whose lives Callie touched are invited to celebrate her life on Monday, October 13, 2014, at 11am at St. Paul’s Missionary Baptist Church, with Bishop L.L. Kirby officiating.  Visitation with the family will be at the church from 10am until the time service. Burial will follow at the West Lawn Memorial Park.
