Calvin Junior "Grip" Odemens

Service Details

In keeping with his wish, a private service will be held.      The family wants to extend a big thank you to Chadwick Young, husband of Carmallia, and “Grip’s” best friend, for always being there for him.

Calvin Junior “Grip” Odemens, 67, passed away Friday, September 4, 2020 at Ignite-Season Hospice in Oak Creek. He was born in Chicago, IL on August 4, 1953 the son of Harrison and Erma Lee (nee: Hathaway) Odems. “Grip” loved walking his dog Cody, listening to music, shooting pool, and going to various casinos in the area.

Surviving are his children, Camiki Cobbz, of Houston, TX, and Carmallia (Chadwick) Young, of Kenosha ; 8 grandchildren; his mother, Erma Lee Knox, of Racine; seven siblings, Roosevelt Taylor, of Milwaukee, Erma Jean Odems, of Racine, Abbott Griffin, of Toledo, OH, Lisa Marshall, of Madison, Lawrence Griffin, of Racine, Cornelius Griffin, in California, and Carolyn Griffin, in Madison, WI. “Grip” is also survived by his nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Harrison, sister, Rosetta Griffin, brother, Floyd Griffin, niece, Monique Golden, nephew, Brian Golden, and loving cousin, Gwendolyn Hall.

The family wants to extend a big thank you to Chadwick Young, husband of Carmallia, and “Grip’s” best friend, for always being there for him.

Can’t thank Gary and you all enough for our fathers funeral arrangements (Victor Joseph Morris) June 18th, 2020.
He would have been SO proud. So many little personal details that we were not even expecting, totally overwhelmed us. From the pamphlets to the thank-you notes and copies of the video, to the beautiful casket picture and arrangement. Pop looked as proud as he was in life. And thanks also to the very cooperative and helpful staff. We thought it would take much longer to knock this all out at our one and only meeting with Gary. We did not want to overlook, or forget to give our heartfelt thanks for such wonderful service at such a horrible time in our lives.
