Carol Jean (nee: Windmon) Fleming, age 63, was called home by her Loving Savior on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Hospice Alliance, in Kenosha, WI.  “Momma Jean” as she was affectionately called by all who loved her, was born on September 25, 1952 to the union of James Arthur and Maude (nee: Travis) Windmon in Dyers, Arkansas.  Shortly after James moved his wife and children to Benton Harbor, Michigan where better opportunities were awaiting his family.  There Carol attended various of schools throughout her education, concluding that chapter of her young life at Benton Harbor High School. Starting her family early on in life is what has shaped her in a manner that she earned the title of “Momma Jean” for all the lives she’s impacted as a mother and care giver.

Carol joined Deliverance Crusaders Church and served as head cook, usher, she also briefly taught the youth and had the honor of serving as the First Lady during her 30 plus years as a faithful member, until her home going.

Over the course of her life she’s enjoyed; praising God, witnessing, cooking, listening to music, shopping and frequently fussing at all the loved ones, she enjoyed spending time with on a daily basis.  She was a feisty fire cracker and had a big heart too! She loved family more than anything near or far!  Carol was a caregiver and worked in health care for many years before her illness set in. Carol was a mother to many, including being a foster parent to more than 50 children along with her late husband George Thomas for over 25 years.

Carol was united in marriage to her first husband George “Heavy” Thomas for 27 years, until his death in 1999. She described their union as Magical. On October 25, 2003, God saw fit for her to be united in Holy Matrimony to Apostle Howard Eugene Fleming, knowing that this union was ordained and blessed by God, two hearts, two families that became one. She last described this union as “we” against the world, as Christ comes first.

Carol was proceeded in death by her father, James Arthur Windmon Sr.; brother, James Arthur Windmon Jr.; daughter, Angel Gray and great grandson, Demario Barber Jr. She leaves to cherish her memories her loving husband, Howard Eugene Fleming; loving mother, Maude Windmon of Michigan; her children, DeMarco Windmon of Marietta, GA, William (Ira) Zackery, LaShonda Carter, Edward (Tesa) Zachery, Larry Windmon, Margaret (Marco) Garcia, Raylena Windmon, Heavenly Thomas and George Thomas Jr. all of Racine, Wisconsin; many grandchildren and great grandchildren, sisters, Shirley Windmon and Alice (John) Taylor both of Benton Harbor, MI and Mary (Anthony) Smith of Fayetteville, NC as well as her brother, Bobby Windmon of Benton Harbor, MI. Carol was also survived by a host of brothers in law, sisters in law, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and a host of other relatives.

Carol was a special mom to: Cassie, Chris, David, Tay, Jerimiah, Mario, Sparkle and many more; her special caretakers/daughters, Sister Tammy Ward and Minister Lorice Pearson; Sister-friends; Arevelon Tunstell, Teresa McMorris and Mother Janice Foots.

A Celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, October 1st, 11:00am, at Dominion Church of God MPGT, 402 9th St, with Minister Margaret Garcia officiating. Visitation will be at the church from 9:00am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at 11:00am on Monday, Oct. 3rd at Graceland Cemetery.

From the day you picked me up from that door step you’ve been my Mama, you taught me how to live for my savior, how to be a wife and a mother, you taught me how to forgive and love. I’m grateful that God saw fit to share you with me as my Mama I was blessed to show you my love and gratitude for all you have done in my life I am the woman I am because God sent you. You will always be in my heart and you will always be my Mama. I was blessed to be able to love you beyond measure. Thank you Mama for opening your heart, your home, and your family to me. Especially for inviting me to the little store front church where I found salvation and saw true servants of God, live for Him every day. Thank you for the wonderful example you set for me. For every kiss and every hug, for every penny piece of discipline, for reaching out and planting thant seed. Forever in my heart I love you Mama. Until we meet again all my love

Mama I am so grateful that God allowed us the time with you that we were granted. I was able to show you my love and gratitude through the years. You’ve taught me how to always keep God first, how to be a wife and a mother. The example you set before me was amazing too see you server the Savior was so life changing for me. Thank you Mama for inviting me into your life, your family, you home, and especially for bringing me to the little store front church where I found salvation and where I was able to see how to be a true and dedicated servant of the Lord. Your kindness and love has changed the life of many, thank you for planting a seed.
