Charles Allen Whisler

vet
Nov 1, 1943 – Sep 23, 2011

Union Grove – Charles Allen “Chuck” Whisler, 67, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, September 23, 2011, while on a fishing trip in Iowa with friends.  He was born in Carthage, MO, on November 1, 1943, to the late Clarence Louis and Marjorie Aileen (nee: Nichols) Whisler.

Chuck graduated in 1961 from the United States Navy Dependents High School on Langley Point in the Philippine Islands.  He then earned his Associates Degree in Industrial Technology – Mechanical Design in 1963 from The Kenosha Technical Institute.  Chuck faithfully served his country with the U.S. Army Special Forces in Vietnam where he received the Bronze Star.  He was a mechanical design engineer for Western Publishing where he retired in 1999.  He was united in marriage to Eileen (nee: Pivek) Whisler, formerly Eileen Anderson, on October 1, 1993.  Chuck was a member of the SE Wisconsin Corvette Club from 1993 to 1997.  He was an elder at Family Fellowship Church in Racine and was dedicated to the Fishing, Faith, and Friends Youth Group sponsored by the church.  Chuck loved being in the surroundings of his family and many friends.  To know Chuck was to love Chuck.  He will be dearly missed by all.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Eileen; children, Kim (Ken) Hein, of Kansasville, Jennifer (Michael) Maciejczak of Rochester, Heidi Rhodes of Spartanburg, SC, Erika (Cory) Petersen of Racine; grandchildren, Tobie Lynn (Jason) Kossow of Mt. Horeb, Corie Ann (Brandon) Seward of Union Grove, James (Jenny) Hein of Bohner’s Lake, Veronica (Chris) DuPuis of Racine, Kenny (Chrissy) Hein of Pell Lake, Wesley Hemm of Ladson, SC, Eva Rhodes, Liz Rhodes, Aiden Richard Rhodes, Ian Rhodes, all of Spartanburg, SC, Brenden Kandl, Emily Rose Petersen, both of Racine; 10 great-grandchildren; and other relatives too numerous to mention.

All services are being held at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home, 4600 County Line Road, on Thursday, September 29, 2011.  Visitation will be from 4pm until the time of the service.  The celebration of Chuck’s life will take place at 7pm with Chuck’s dear friend, Rev. Scott Miller, officiating.  Full Military Honors will take place following the service.  Interment will take place on Friday, September 30, 2011, 10am, at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.  Memorials have been suggested to Friends of the Family Ministry at Family Fellowship Church.

Chuck’s family would like to send love and a special thank you to Pastor Scott Miller, Jason Ertl, and Daniel Ertl who were with Chuck on the trip in Iowa making his last hours joyous.

From the first time that I met Chuck, you just knew he had the fingerprint of God on him. I was fortunate to be the one that sold him and Eileen the condo in Walnut Ridge where Chuck finally had some free time to do the things that he loved to do. Chuck will be missed by many but we know that he is in the presence of his Lord and Savior and smiling from ear to ear!

    Eileen,

I would just like to offer my condolences to you and your family. I lost my father 2 years ago unexpectedly but feel he is probably in a better place now than to continue to live with his MS. Please take care.

    Shawn

Eileen, you and your family are in my prayers. Chuck was a kind sole and the love that I saw in both of your eyes when talking to one another was beautiful. I know you will cherish all of the memories.

Testimonials

June 24, 2020

My Aunt, Alvera Van Brunt, was adamant about not having a funeral; with Mike Langendorf’s skills and refreshing open personality, we were able to meet her desires and also give her family and friends a chance for final goodbyes.
