
~~ Charles T. Wahl, 90, passed away in Wheaton Franciscan Hospice on, Sunday, March 16, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Rubicon, WI, on January 23, 1924, the son of the late Theodore and Margaret (nee: Jaeger) Wahl.
Charles graduated from Burlington High School in 1943. After graduating, Charles joined the U.S. Marine Corps, where he served until 1947. On February 18, 1944, he was united in marriage to the former Helen Fandry, who preceded him in death in 1983. Charles had been employed by Jensen Block, where he bicycled to and from work while living in Burlington. When Jensen Block was sold he continued to work for Jensen Waylite. Jensen Waylite was sold in 1966 he was owner of J.C.T. Trucking until retiring in 2002. Charles was a NASCAR fan, especially fond of following Dale Earnhardt Jr., the Packers, and professional wrestling. He was involved in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts for many years earning Wood Badge, Silver Beaver also going to Valley Forge Jamboree. Surviving is son, Charles Wahl Jr.; daughter, Joanne Wahl; grandson, Charles Wahl III, sister-in-law, Jacqueline Wahl, grand-dog, Alphie, grand-kitties, Tigger and Soxs, special friends, Jens and Barb Anderson, who took him for weekly breakfasts and drove him all over Racine and Kenosha counties, also special friends, Dave and Peggy Johnson, working on their farm, cleaning onions for the past 4 years. He is also survived nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Charles was preceded in death by his brothers, Lloyd (Nancy) Wahl, and Howard Wahl, sisters, Betty Wahl, Gladys (Bill) Krause, and brother-in-law, Bill Fandry.
His funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, March 21st, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday, March 20th, from 5:00p.m., until 7:00 p.m. and on Friday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. The family has suggested memorials to the V.A. Fisher House, C/O Zablocki V.A. Hospital, 5000 W. National Ave. Milwaukee, 53295.
