Colleen Louise Paap

Aug 18, 1932 – Nov 24, 2006

Racine- Colleen Louise Paap, 74, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 24, 2006 at the Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare-All Saints Medical Center. Colleen was born in Minneota, MN on August 18, 1932 to the late Everette and Mary (nee: Van Dorpe) Coleman. A graduate of Minneota High School, she went on to laboratory technician school before joining the military. Colleen faithfully served our country with the United States Navy during the Korean War. It was while serving in the Navy that she met the love of her life, David B. Paap, Sr. They were united in marriage on December 6, 1952 in Minneota at St. Edward Catholic Church. Although she passionately chose and enjoyed her life’s work as a tireless homemaker, she had also been employed at Dremel Mfg. as a line attendant. Colleen was a longtime member of St. Edward Catholic Church, where she served in various capacities – catechism teacher, scouting den mother, and youth group advisor, just to name a few. Colleen was an avid reader, phenomenal cook, and absolutely loved every second of being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Surviving are her loving husband of over 54 years, Dave; their children, David B. (Monica) Paap, Deborah (Daniel) Tuttle, Jackie (David) Tuttle, Mary (Jeff) Hoffmann, Tom Paap, John (Robin) Paap, Christopher (Kadee) Paap, and Kathy (Jeff) Vogt; grandchildren, Kevin, Laura, Jamie, Leigha, Chris (Christine), Tim, Kellie (Paul), Tom, Cassie (Kyle), Jessie, Sam, Casey, Sadie, April (Alfonso), Ashley, Sean, Maggie, Brandon, Taylor, Keith, Mitchell, Danielle, Joel and Rebecca; great-grandchildren, Cecily, Isabel, Alfonso, Max, Kyla, Malakai, “Baby” Jacobs and “Baby” Tuttle; sisters, Marcie Wolff, Georgia (Wayne) Burlingame, and LaVonne Sase; brother, Dennis (Agnes) Coleman; brother-in-law, Dick (Barbara) Paap; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Ray) Rogers, and Jeanette Smardon; beloved nephew, Roger Paap; and by many other special nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Colleen was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Jane Paap; brother, Ronald Coleman; brothers-in-law, George Smardon, John M. (Lucienne) Paap, and Eldon Wolff. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, November 29, 2006 at 11:00 am in St. Edward Catholic Church, 1403 Grove Ave., with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating. Interment, with military honors, will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-8 pm and in the church on Wednesday from 10-11 am. In memory of Colleen, memorials to the American Heart Association have been suggested. A heartfelt note of thanks to the entire staffs of Ridgewood Care Center, Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center, and the WFC Hospice; and to our devoted doctor and friend, Howard W. Short, MD for the compassionate care and support that was so warmly extended. God bless all of you!
