Corrine J. Herbst

Jan 5, 1940 – Jul 29, 2013

Franksville – Corrine Janice (nee: Mutza) Herbst, age 73, passed away on Monday, July 29, 2013 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Medical Center.

Corrine was born in Milwaukee on January 5, 1940 to the late Frank and Marion (nee: Lehmann) Mutza. On February 15, 1958 in St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church – Milwaukee, she was united in marriage with the love of her life, Bernard “Ben” Herbst, who preceded her in death on December 18, 1999. 

Corrine was employed by Chartwells School Dining Services at Racine Unified School District, serving our children of the community at Fratt and Goodland Elementary Schools. She was a proud member of St. Louis Catholic Church where she volunteered with the St. Vincent DePaul Society. Corrine also was a dedicated voting-poll volunteer. In more recent years, she enjoyed being active with area senior citizen theatre, dinner and dancing clubs. Above all, Corrine loved and cherished being in the surroundings of her entire family. 

Surviving are her children, James (Dawn) Herbst of Racine; Janet (Maynard) Schuelke of New London; and Joseph (Marianne DeHart) Herbst of Racine; grandchildren, Emily (Michael) Rodriguez, Joshua (Karli Hansen) Herbst, Geremy (Jen Leffel) Lucier, Nicholas (Katie Kettenhoven) Lucier, Anna (Ron Froehlich) Lucier, Kristin (Joe Carey) Herbst, Zachary Herbst, Kattie Stanfel and Paul (Crystal) DeHart; great-grandchildren, Ava, Luzelena, Braydon, Austin, Alexis, Kassandra, Paul Jr. and Leanna; brother, Russell (Janice) Mutza; sister, Faith Ann (Carl) Soczka; brother-in-law, Paul Jefferson; sister-in-law, Sharon Mutza; and by Ben’s brothers & sisters; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

In addition to her parents and husband, Corrine was preceded in death by her sister, Geraldine Jefferson; and brother, Theodore Mutza. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 2, 2013 at 11:00 am in St. Louis Catholic Church, 13207 Highway G in Caledonia, with Rev. Mark Danczyk officiating. Interment will follow in St. Louis Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church on Friday from 9:00 – 11:00 am.
