David Duane Billups

Jul 21, 1958 – Mar 18, 2006

Racine – David D. Billups, 47, passed away at Froedtert Lutheran Memorial Hospital on Saturday, March 18, 2006. He was born in Racine on July 21, 1958, son of the late Robert W. and Adell (nee: Freeman) Billups, Sr. He was united in marriage to Darlene Petty on April 6, 1985.

David recently retired from the Chrysler Corporation, where he had worked for more than 28 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, watching sports on TV, and was an avid “C.B. nut”. His greatest joy came from his family and being a proud grandpa. David was a member of Holy Disciple Pentecostal Church where he played bass guitar in the Men’s Choral.

He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Darlene; his beloved children, Takeisha Petty of Racine, Shahara Foxie-Ahmad of Decatur, Illinois, Toni Petty, Crystal Petty, and Ivory Billups all of Racine; grandchildren, Marika Foxie, Quayshawn Malone, David Sutton, Charmaine Weatherspoon, and Janiyah Herron; brothers and sister, Robert W (Patricia) Billups, Jr., Willie James Billups, Louis Clark, Maydell (Greg) Williams, and Billy Ray Billups; father-in-law Fred Petty; and his best friends, Willie Wilson, William Scaife, and Byron Gandy all of Racine. He is further survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded by his sisters, Margaret Turner and Peggy Tittle; his brother, Eddie Billups; and niece, Leslie Billups.

Homegoing services will be held at Searching Together Missionary Baptist Church, 825 21st Street, at 12 noon on Thursday, March 23, 2006 with Pastor A.W. Scaife officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be in the church beginning at 10:00 a.m. Memorials to Allsaints Dialysis East have been suggested.

Many thanks are extended to all of those who have helped David and our family through this time, including the staff of Allsaints Dialysis East, and the Froedtert ICU team, especially Yvonne.
