Memorial Suggestions

The family has suggested memorials, in lieu of flowers, be made to the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.

David E. Schulz, 86, passed away at the Villa at Lincoln Park on Friday, April 9, 2021. David was born in Lake Mills, Wisconsin, on April 19, 1934, the son of the late Carroll  and Flora (Nee: Lutz) Schulz.

After graduating from Lake Mills High School in 1952, he received a Bachelor of Music  Degree in music education from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Following graduation, he taught in Racine at McKinley Junior High School . While in Racine, he earned his Master’s Degree from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. He went on to own Westown Foods for over ten years. Dave also worked in Financial Services for fourteen years, retiring from Met Life Resources in 2002.

In August of 1957, Dave married Arlene Strasburg at the Moravian Church in their hometown of Lake Mills. She preceded him in death on November 28, 2018. Throughout the years, Dave was an active educator serving on the Boards and Education Committees for the REA, WEA, and NEA. His interest in vocal music led him to direct church choirs, serving as a tenor soloist; in his later years, he sang in the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection Choir. Dave was a loyal, longtime member (32 years) of the Kiwanis Club of West Racine, serving in numerous roles, including President. After retiring, Dave faithfully served as a VIP volunteer at Ascension All Saints Hospital. He was a dedicated member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, serving in many areas of his church life. Dave loved to travel with his beloved wife, Arlene. They were fortunate enough to visit several countries including Australia, China, Ireland, Germany, France, and Russia, just to name a few.

Surviving are his children, Philip Schulz, of Sparta, and Ann Schulz, of Racine; two granddaughters, Olivia and Natalie Schulz, both of Sparta; three sisters-in-law, Phyllis George, of Madison, Joan Allinder, of Cadillac, Michigan, and Jeralin McFarland, of Sauk City. His nieces, nephews, church family, and many dear friends also survive him.

God bless you All with His peace that passes all understanding. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Your Father/ Grandfather was such a blessing to my Family in so many ways. He sang at my Wedding on June 14th, 1992. He sang at other Family Celebrations as well. His joy of the Lord shined brightly from his face always. We loved spending time with him.

We first met Dave and Arlene when we joined Lutheran Church of the Resurrection in 1984. When we heard Dave’s big voice, we knew we wanted him to sing the Lord’s Prayer at our wedding. Both Dave and Arlene welcomed us as new members and for years to come they always had a friendly warm smile when we would meet.
To the Schulz family, please accept our warmest sympathy.

Testimonials

Words cannot even begin to express the tremendous gratitude our family has for a team like the one at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home & Crematory. Thank you for the gentle lovely care over our mother Delia (Rosa) Balderas. Never having had a direct experience with a funeral home to this extent we didn’t know what to expect. We didn’t have a clue that they would step right in and have the most comforting team surrounding us that thought of ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING for anyone in our position. It was very evident from the first discussion on the phone that they were already well prepared to handle every little detail for us that we weren’t even aware would be required. Mark and his team truly eased so much of the unknown worries right out of our path, and left room for us to just focus on the small personal details we wanted for our mom. It was nice to know that all cost involved was in black and white on their site as well as on paper at our first meeting. Leaving no room for question or doubt what so ever with any fee involved. It was truly a blessing to have everything written out so well and simplified with various price range options in a time that we needed crystal clear direction. Its been beautiful to see that their care and service didn’t stop after our mom’s service came to an end. They continue to be in communication with immediate responses as questions arise along the way. God bless Mark, and the entire compassionate team, to be around to guide many many more for generations to come through life’s most difficult times. You are all truly amazing.
