Pastor David Stewart, Sr., age 70, peacefully passed away at his home on Sunday, October 12, 2025 in Racine, WI, with his beloved wife Shirley by his side. He was born in Racine, WI on January 31, 1955, the son of Robert and Floydie Mae (Mayfield) Stewart.
David grew up with gifted athletic abilities excelling in sports, and upon graduating from Washington Park High School, he was awarded a college football scholarship. He chose, instead, to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force – a decision reflecting his dedication and service to his country. Shortly after leaving the military, David accepted a higher call of duty by accepting Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He then relocated back to Racine where he joined Shiloh Church of God in Christ. It was there that David accepted his call to the ministry and served under Pastor George Ramsey Sr. for twenty-seven years. He also served in ministry at Better Way Ministries Inc. in Racine for eighteen years. Growing in his faith and commitment to God, David answered God’s call to establish Faith Walk Ministries in April 2021, where he pastored with his wife Shirley, until God called him home. David worked for Delco/Delphi, Oak Creek, WI for 14 years. He also worked for Motorola Corporation and in the security service for various companies. He was a very dependable employee, arriving well in advance of his start time and had good work ethics. David’s passions reflected his zeal for life and adventurous nature. He enjoyed football, basketball, horseback riding, and motorcycle riding with his children and his brothers, living every moment with enthusiasm and purpose. David was the second coach in the stand when his children played sports. He had a great sense of humor, was quick-witted and often the ice breaker in the room. He loved his family, and his greatest desire was that they would all come into the saving knowledge of and relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Shirley Stewart; his brothers, Philip L. Stewart and Jeffery Stewart; his sister-in-law, Yvette Stewart; his children: Carla Branch, David Stewart Jr., Sharelle Stewart, Shatanya Marshall (Dennis) and Anthony Stewart; his bonus children: Antoine Evans (Sheleta), Carleen Smith (Marcus Sr.), Crystal Henderson (Derrick), Chalondra Clay, and Somone Agers; grand-children: James Marshall, Davidson Stewart and Parker Stewart; his aunts Barbara Mayfield and Dorothy Dixon, along with several cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Robert Stewart and Floydie Mae Stewart.
David lived a life of unwavering faith, love of family, and perseverance, a legacy that will continue to shine through the many lives he touched.
