Racine—Diane Marie (nee: Thery) Solberg, 69, passed away peacefully at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Milwaukee on Monday, October 4, 2010.
A lifetime resident, Diane was born in Racine on October 11, 1940 to the late Henry and Florence (nee: Etteldorf) Thery. She graduated from Washington Park High School “Class of 1958”. Shortly after, on July 5, 1958 in St. Lucy’s Catholic Church, Diane was united in marriage with the love of her life, John Paul Solberg. Since then, you rarely saw one without the other. They were true soulmates.
Diane was employed by Goldblatt’s Department Store as a department manager of the women’s clothing department. She was a longtime and active member of St. Lucy Catholic Church. Diane was passionate about supporting the United States military, especially the Marine Corps. She had served as President of the local and state Marine Corps League Auxiliary. She was also a faithful volunteer of Wisconsin Veterans Home in Union Grove. Among her interests, she enjoyed playing Bingo and attending the activities and events of her grandchildren.
Surviving are her loving husband of 52 years, John P. Solberg; their children, Russell Solberg, Randall (Dana) Solberg and Roxanne (Bob) Fay; grandchildren, Cassandra, Lance and Brandon Solberg; sister, Doris (Tom) Dresen; brothers, Daniel (Yvonne) Thery and David Thery; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Diane’s 70th Birthday, Monday, October 11, 2010 in St. Lucy Catholic Church, 3101 Drexel Ave., at 1:00 pm with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Hwy 32. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 11 am – 1 pm. In memory of Diane, memorials to the Marine Corps League (Agerholm-Gross Detachment #346), has been suggested.
