
RACINE – Mrs. Dolores “Lorie” Hanson, 85, passed away at Hospice House in Pleasant Prairie with her family by her side on Friday, September 21, 2012.
A lifelong resident, she was born in Racine on July 28, 1927, the daughter of the late Clark and Minnie (nee: Johnson) Kemp. She graduated from Washington Park High School. On April 3, 1948, she married LeRoy C. Hanson. He preceded her in death on December 2, 1992.
Lorie retired as a secretary from DANA Corporation in 1987 after 20 years of service. After retirement, she worked as a volunteer for St. Mary’s Hospital and WFH – All Saints for over 20 years as well.
Lorie was a longtime and active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She held many positions including; Sunday school teacher, choir communion recorder and lay ministry. In addition to her love for her church, she enjoyed her time playing cards, traveling to places such as Hawaii, Alaska and Europe, following the Brewers and Packers and watching Golden Girls and Dancing with the Stars. However, she most valued the time spent in the presence of her family.
She is survived by her children, Jeff (Janet) Hanson, Nancy (Angelo J.) Puma; her grandchildren, Michael (fiancée, Amy Tyke) Hanson, Topher Hanson, Kellie (Josh) Davidson, Angelo M. (Shelley) Puma, Kimberly (Chris) Hanson; her great grandchildren, A.J. and Allie Puma, Caleb Davidson, Kourtney Hanson; her sister, Louise Daly all of Racine; as well as loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Lorie was preceded in death by her great granddaughter, Katelyn Davidson; her sister, Gladys Rider; step-mother, Tillie (nee: Osimitz) Kemp and step-sister, Dorothy Preisler.
Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (3011 Erie St) on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. for a service celebrating Lorie’s life with Rev. Roger Black officiating. There will be a visitation in the church on Wednesday from 4-6 p.m. Her interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Those wishing to attend may meet at the gate. Memorials have been suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church.
The Hanson family would like to thank the entire staff at Ridgewood Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center; especially her therapists, Josh and Karen. They would also like to thank her caregivers, Dee and Dawn. Your special attention for Lorie is very much appreciated and will never be forgotten. God Bless you all.
