Dominic Joseph Melfi

vet
Aug 12, 1941 – May 27, 2011

Racine – Dominic J. Melfi, 69, passed away early Friday morning May 27, 2011 at Woodstock Health and Rehabilitation Center in Kenosha. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 12, 1941, son of the late Samuel and Angela (nee: Falzone) Melfi. Dominic served honorably in the US Army from 1963-1965.

Dominic moved from Hinsdale, Illinois to Racine in 1988. He had a long career with Promotions Unlimited, starting in Illinois when the company was in its infancy. He was instrumental in the design and implementation of the company’s information technology system. Dominic relished parties and family gatherings.  He was accomplished in computer science and, enjoyed art and home remodeling, which he put to good use remodeling his home on Lake Michigan, that he cherished so much. Dominic was extremely generous to others in sharing his time and talents. Dominic was a member of MENSA; and served on the computer science board at UW-Parkside.

Dominic is survived by his life-partner, Jeanette Deldin of Racine; and his sisters, Dolores (Ronald) Walburn of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Sherry Roper of Chino Hills, Califorina, and his seven nieces and nephews. He’ll also be missed by Jeanette’s children who were like his own, Thomas Deldin of Oswego, Illinois, Pamela Patrick of Downers Grove, Illinois, and Patricia (Steve) Deldin-Rich of Ann Arbor, Michigan; and their seven children and grandchild.

All are invited for visitation with his family from 5:00-6:45PM Wednesday, June 1, 2011. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 7:00 p.m. following visitation.

The name Dominic Melfi has been in my memory since the age of 12 when I met him at summer camp in Algonquin, Il. We became friends for two weeks and corresponded briefly. We agreed to meet again the following year but then life happened….as it does.
In this age of computers I thought I would google his name to say hello. Sadly, he is gone.
He was the first boy I danced with and the first boy to hold my hand. His gentlemanly way
made a lasting impression on me and I will hold his memory dear. Karen Richmond

Testimonials

June 24, 2020

Can’t thank Gary and you all enough for our fathers funeral arrangements (Victor Joseph Morris) June 18th, 2020.
He would have been SO proud. So many little personal details that we were not even expecting, totally overwhelmed us. From the pamphlets to the thank-you notes and copies of the video, to the beautiful casket picture and arrangement. Pop looked as proud as he was in life. And thanks also to the very cooperative and helpful staff. We thought it would take much longer to knock this all out at our one and only meeting with Gary. We did not want to overlook, or forget to give our heartfelt thanks for such wonderful service at such a horrible time in our lives.
God Bless,
Bob Morris
