Donald James Instenes

vet
Jun 28, 1918 – Oct 9, 2014

Racine – Donald James Instenes, 96, received the promise of eternal life on Thursday, October 9, 2014.  He was born in Lacrosse, Wisconsin on June 28, 1918, son of the late Lars and Pearl (nee: Laughlin) Instenes.

Don was united in marriage to Judith Mary Wright, on December 5, 1959, at Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Milwaukee.

Don honorably and faithfully served his country in the United States Army during World War II.  He was a proof reader for Trade Press Publishing until he retired in 1983.  Don was an elder at Immanuel Presbyterian in Milwaukee and was also a Mason.  He was a sports enthusiast and remained active playing all different sports for many years.  Above all, Don treasured his family and will be dearly missed.

Don leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of over 54 years, Judith Instenes of Racine; children; Douglas (Kimberly) Instenes of Racine, Christine (Sharif) Ramsis of Virginia; grandchildren; Lauren Instenes, Dalen Instenes, Basim Ramsis, Lucy Ramsis, Emma Ramsis, and Zakary Ramsis.

Private memorial services for Don will be held by the family at a later date.  The family has suggested memorials to Immanuel Presbyterian Church, 1105 N. Waverly Place, Milwaukee, 53202, or Racine Theatre Guild, 2519 Northwestern Avenue, Racine, 53404.
