Donald Junior Silvers

Racine – Donald J. Silvers, 84, passed away at his residence on Sunday, February 14, 2016. He was born in Crawford County Wisconsin on December 16, 1931 the son of the late Henry and Goldie (nee: Jones) Silvers.   On August 1, 1955 he was married to June Collins. Donald served in the US Army and was a Racine area resident for most of his life.

Donald enjoyed a long career at Chrysler in Kenosha where he worked for 42 years until he retired in 2001. He was a hardworking man and a loving father who enjoyed working on cars, playing solitaire, and shopping at the 7 Mile Fair.

Donald is survived by his loving and devoted wife, June Silvers; his children, Wanda Silvers, Eric “Wayne” Silvers, Gregory (Patty) Silvers, and Danny (Annette) Silvers; many grandchildren, nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends including his brother, Oscar (Kay) Silvers, and sister, Ellen Schmidt.  He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Silvers Jr; his brothers Darwin Silvers and Keith Silvers; and brother-in-law, Gustav Silvers.

Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. Interment and military honors will follow at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove. Visitation with the family will begin in the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family have been suggested.
