
Donald R. Hultman, 74, passed away on Sunday Sept. 2, 2012 at the Willowfield Nursing Home in Delavan, WI. He was born in Racine, WI on April 11, 1938, son of the late Robert and Genevieve (nee: Merrick) Hultman. He was a proud US Air Force veteran, having served a large part of his tour in Labrador and England.
Don retired in 2000 after working 15 years at McHenry County College. He had worked many years prior to that at the Piggly Wiggly and Super Value food stores as well as co-owning an Open Pantry store. He also worked as a security guard for many years. He lived in Palm Bay Florida for a brief time when he helped to open a new Super Value there. He had hoped to retire there but never did make it back after moving back to Illinois.
Don enjoyed traveling, watching the Green Bay Packers or golf on TV, building his collection of antique model cars, doing the crossword puzzle in the TV guide and taking daily long walks. He was a member of the Harvard Moose Lodge #1289.
Don is survived by his children, Denise (Rene) Van Riet of Holland, and Donald (Marion) Hultman Jr. of Racine; grandchildren, Jeremi Shearon, Rachel (Jamie) Barlow, Jessica Hultman, and Gabrielle Hultman all of Racine, Robert Brame, and Jennifer Brame both in Holland; great grandson, Layton Barlow of Racine; sisters, Nora (Gil) Hoffman of Racine, Judith Brown of Claremont, Florida, Carol (John) Meissner of Racine, Diane (Bob) Briscoe of Racine, Linda Welch of Union Grove, Barbara Manchester (Mark Horne) of Racine; brothers, William Hultman of Racine, James Hultman of Arizona, Michael (Linda) Hultman of Racine, Larry (Sylvia) Hultman of Racine; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Robert Hultman.
Memorial services will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor John Mundt officiating. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Memorials to the Parkinson’s Foundation have been suggested.
