Doris Evelyn Pederson

Jan 27, 1929 – Nov 16, 2011

Racine – Doris Evelyn Pederson, 82, passed away at Ridgewood Care Center on Wednesday, November 16, 2011. She was born on January 27, 1929 in Inkster, N. Dakota, daughter of the late John and Clara (nee: Draper) Common. She was married in Inkster on July 20, 1947 to Theodore Pederson.

Doris and Ted worked side-by-side on many farms in N. Dakota until 1970 when she and Ted moved with their family to Racine. She worked at Zayre’s Department Store for many years, and also provided daycare to numerous families and their children.  Doris was a loving and caring mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, and was loved by all. Following their retirement, she enjoyed traveling with Ted, and spending free time with her family. One of her favorite pastimes was playing ‘penny poker’ at the Washington Court Apartments with her friends, especially best friend, Laurie McPhillips. Doris was a faithful member of the Lutheran Church of the Resurrection.

A memorial service will be held in the funeral home at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 19, 2011 with Rev. Dr. Melvin Miritz officiating. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. Interment will take place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, November 21, 2011. Donations in Doris’s memory have been suggested to the Marshfield Hope Lodge (611 West Doege St. Marshfield WI 54449); or to Kathy’s House (600 N. 103rd St. Milwaukee, WI 53226) for them to continue the wonderful work that they do.
