Emma Jane Reader

Jul 7, 1950 – Mar 21, 2013

Emma Jane Reader, 62, was called Home by her Loving Savior on Thursday, March 21, 2013. She was born in Okolona, MS on July 7, 1950, to Madie Riley and Willie Cook. Emma Jane was united in marriage to Robert L. Reader in 1987, who preceded her in death in 2009.

Emma Jane had been employed as the head cook for Lincoln Village Convalescent Center for over 9 years, until her health failed. She was a member of Searching Together Baptist Church. Emma enjoyed cooking, shopping, going out to eat, and watching her favorite television shows.

She is survived by her daughter, Walinda ( Terry Lockridge) Riley, step daughter, Violia Lake, grandchildren, Robert Reams and Amber Smith, mother, Madie Riley, brother, Joey (Regina) Riley, sister Wendy Nunn, and special friend, Frankie White, all of Racine. Her nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends also survive her.  Her husband, Robert L. Reader and fathers, Willie Cook, and J.C. Riley preceded her in death.

A Homegoing Celebration will be held in Searching Together Baptist Church, 825 21st St., on Saturday, March 30th, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Willie Riley officiating. Visitation will be held in the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Dover, at a later date.

Testimonials

Thank you from Raymond Szymanski Family

I would like to thank Mike Langendorf, Bill Althaus and the rest of the staff for the wonderful celebration of the life for my father Raymond L. Szymanski who was a WWII veteran. I especially appreciate how much you really listen and the questions you asked regarding who my father was and what he was all about. Those details showed up in every part of the service from the flowers, the music, the thank you’s, pictures, obituary, outdoor military honors, etc. etc. My father would have been so grateful for the way you honored his life. I also received phone calls from family and friends indicating how beautiful the service was in every way. You and your staff definitely go above and beyond. You treat everyone like family and your compassion is so genuine. There should be more people in the world just like all of you. No words can express our gratitude for all you have done for myself, my father and our family. Thank you so very much and may the Lord bless you and yours! Sincerely Terri Carls and the Szymanski Family
