Esther Mae Thompson

Aug 7, 1917 – Apr 6, 2013

Racine – Esther Mae Thompson, 95, received the promise of eternal life on Saturday, April 6, 2013, surrounded by the love of her family.  She was born in Racine on August 7, 1917, daughter of the late William and Myrtle Ann (nee: Clifford) Lattish, Sr.

Esther was united in marriage to the love of her life, Earl Henry Thompson, on February 14, 1942, at Atonement Lutheran Church.  Earl preceded her in death on November 13, 2010.

Esther graduated from Wonewoc-Center High School in Wonewoc, WI.  She was employed at Moxness Products for twenty-six years until her retirement in 1983.  Esther was a devoted member of Atonement Lutheran Church.  She was also a member of the Circle 8 Square Dance Club.  In their younger years, Earl and Esther extensively traveled the world together.  Above all, Esther treasured her family and cherished the time spent with them.  She will be dearly missed.

Esther leaves to cherish her memory, her twin daughters, Joanne (David) Keithly of Knightdale, NC, Suzanne (Karl) Seitz of Fuquay-Varina, NC; son, Wayne (Kathleen) Thompson of Racine; 10 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Ann Lattish; brother-in-law, Vernon (Mae) Thompson; other relatives and dear friends too numerous to mention.  In addition to her parents and husband, Esther is preceded in death by her granddaughter, Julie Carter; brothers, William Lattish, Jr., Clifford Lattish, Murvel Lattish; sisters, Bernice Watts, Betty Wikstrom; and brother-in-law, Lyle (Carol) Thompson.

A funeral service will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 10, 2013, 11:00am, at Atonement Lutheran Church, 2915 Wright Avenue, with Rev. Dr. Warren D. Williams officiating.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, 4:00pm – 7:00pm, at Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 4600 County Line Road, and again on Wednesday at the church from 10:00am until the time of the service.  Private interment will take place at West Lawn Memorial Park.  The family has suggested memorials to the Salvation Army or to the Shriner’s Hospital of Oak Park, IL.

    Dear Joanne, Suzanne, & Wayne,
Our deepest sympathy on the loss of your mom. She was one of my mother’s dearest friends.
They worked together for many years at Moxness Products. Now they’re celebrating together in heaven.
    Love in Christ,
    Russ & Nancy (Jacobson)Tourville

I remember Esther very fondly. Every visit I made to my Grandmothers (Helen Miller) meant a visit to Esther as well. Listening to their square dancing stories always made me smile. Peace to her and her family. All my love. Johanne Eppler

Testimonials

Joan Schrader and family

We want to thank Mike for the kindness and special attention he gave us for our mother. Marcella Conley. He came in the middle of the night himself to pick her up and take her to the funeral home. For the things that had to be taken care of, he told us not to worry; that it would be taken care of by him. Thank you also Mike for singing at her funeral, especially her favorite song, Amazing Grace. Thank you and all of your staff at Draeger-Langendorf.
