Franklin Richard West

Union Grove – Franklin Richard West Sr., 83, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan All Saints Hospital on Wednesday July 20, 2016. He was born in Eagle River on December 16, 1932, son of the late Fremont and Henrietta (nee: Rashendorfer) West. After serving in the US Army he relocated to Racine where he spent the remainder of his life. Franklin worked for more than 30 years at Webster Electric and then Danfoss. Franklin was blessed with an incredible work ethic and loved the work that he did. In his free time he enjoyed camping with the Hobo’s Camping Club and then the Bell Ringers Camping Club.

He is survived by his children: Franklin (Joan) West Jr, of Racine, David (Lynn) West of McHenry, Illinois, and Tracy(Russ) Polasky of Racine; grandchildren: Michael and Andrew Polasky, Alyssa (Nick) Filkins; great-grandson Brantley Filkins, all of Racine. He is further survived by his loving companion Diana Hogle of Racine; sister Marie Zakowski of Little Suamico; brother Raymond (Mary) West Eagle River; as well as other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Geraldine “Geri” (nee: Spooner) West; his brothers William West, Fremont (Joan) West Jr.; and brother-in-law Arnold Zakowski.

Private services will be held for his family.

We want to thank Mike for the kindness and special attention he gave us for our mother. Marcella Conley. He came in the middle of the night himself to pick her up and take her to the funeral home. For the things that had to be taken care of, he told us not to worry; that it would be taken care of by him.
