
Sturtevant – Frederick Alvin Williams, 69, passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2013 at Wheaton Franciscan – All Saints Hospital. Frederick was born on December 28, 1943 in Utica, New York, the only child to the late Alvin and Mattie (Nee: Lamb) Williams. He spent all of his childhood and graduated High School in Marcy, New York. On October 30, 1965 he married the love of his life, the late Barbara Ann (Nee: Beix) Williams and to this union two children were born.
Frederick enlisted in the United States Navy on June 29, 1962. Two months after joining the service, he went to Great Lakes Naval Base in Illinois, where he received medical training to become a Hospital Corpsman. He worked as Corpsman while finishing his commitment to serve in the Navy. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, He became employed as a civilian by J.I. Case Company in Racine, WI, in 1967. Frederick, “Big Fred” or “ Freddie” as he was affectionately called by many, continued to use his medical training from the Navy at Case where he worked in the medical department as Head Nurse until he retired in 2005 after 38 years of dedicated service.
Frederick was very proud of the fact that he served his country in the U.S. Navy, and was always looking for ways to volunteer or donate to help veterans like himself. He was an avid fan of the New York Giants and could always be found faithfully rooting for his team. He was a TV connoisseur and was always ready for a great game of cribbage but the time he spent with his family was the time that he treasured the most.
He is survived by his two children, Kim and Christopher Williams both of Sturtevant; grandchildren, Christopher Garcia, Mary Katherine Williams and Nicholas Garcia; Mother in law, Lois Beix of Burlington, Brothers in laws, Paul (Kay) Beix of Honey Creek, Steven (Julie) Beix of Lyons, Brian (Bonnie) Beix of Edgewood, New Mexico; family cats, Buddy and Sissy, as well as numerous other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann Williams; parents, Alvin and Mattie Williams; father in law, Louis Beix; also Mike Aschauer, Andy Aschauer, Guy Moat, Merritt Healy; family cats, Smokey and Yo-Yo; family dogs, Sadie, Marcy, Chelsea, Chu-ling, Brandy, Mitsy and Puddles.
Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger – Langendorf Funeral Home on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. for the remembrance and celebration of Frederick’s life. There will be a visitation in the funeral home on Thursday from 5 -7 p.m. A private Inurnment of his cremains will take place at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.
