Julie’s Personal Touch

Sturtevant – George Frederick Beck, age 92, passed away at Ridgewood Care Center on Saturday, October 1, 2016 surrounded by the love of his family.

Of Danish decent, George was born in New York on November 6, 1923 to the late Fred and Sophie (nee: Therkelsen) Beck. George attended Sturtevant schools and resided in the Sturtevant area for over 80 years. He served our country with the United States Army.

On June 2, 1943, George married Geraldine (nee: Baumstark). They were married 66 years and, together, raised two daughters, Dianne and Donna – of whom gave him much joy and happiness.

As a skilled craftsman, George was a self-employed home builder in the Sturtevant area for over 45 years. In George’s free-time, he enjoyed spending time with Geraldine going to town to do shopping or just going for a drive to get a cup of coffee. He also liked to tinker in his garage on many projects. One of his favorite events was holiday dinners (where “he” always carved the turkey with Geraldine at his side assisting). Most of all, George enjoyed family visits – which most always included pizza shortly after arriving. George will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends.

Surviving are his children, Dianne (Roger) Klinkhammer and Donna Beck (Tim Weidner); grandchildren, Kurt (Pattie) Klinkhammer, Kevin (Dawn) Klinkhammer, Renee Beck-Santiago (Francisco Cordova); great-grandchildren, Kayla Beck, Krystal (A.J.) Sanchez, Kristen Klinkhammer and Nicole Klinkhammer; step-grandson, Shawon (Becki) Deuel; great-great-grandchildren, Yesenya Chuc and Oliver Sanchez; step-great-great-granddaughters, Lexi and Emerson; sister, Gloria Konicek; sister-in-law, LouAnn Baumstark; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, George was preceded in death by brother, Emil (Grayce) Beck; sister, Edna (Art) Petersen; and brother-in-law, Jerome Konicek.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 6, 2016, 2016 at 1:00 pm in Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 – 1:00 pm.

The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the incredible staff at Ridgewood Care Center for their loving and compassionate care to George.

Testimonials

January 9, 2025

Michael,

First, let me start out by saying you were a God sent working with me for many years in preparations for my mom’s Homegoing Celebration December 7, 2024.  Even though this was our first time meeting in person, I felt like I already knew you.  Michael, you demonstrated  professionalism, empathy and, your warmth was surprising for me considering your role as a Funeral Director. Your attention to every detail, patient and support has made this process much easier for my family and me. I trusted you and you helped me find closure in a moment of great sadness, and for that we’re eternally grateful. I appreciate the time and energy you put into ensuring everything ran smoothly considering I reside in a different state.  Michael, my mom would have loved you and our family is forever grateful for your unwavering dedication and support during our season of grief.  May the Lord make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you. (Numbers 6:25)

Valerie Tucker and the Family of Barbara Bell
