George William Kinney

Apr 3, 1948 – Jul 10, 2023

Service Details

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 17, 2023, 11:00am, at St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Avenue, with Rev. Jose Mario Nieves officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00am, until the time of the Mass.

George W. Kinney, 75, received the promise of eternal life on July 10, 2023.  He was born in Rock Island, IL, on April 3, 1948, son of the late George and Mildred (nee: Fetes) Kinney.

George was united in marriage to the former Mary Lou Crooks on August 18, 1990, in Moline, IL.

George worked for J.I. Case, and now Case New Holland, where he worked in many facets, retiring as an inspector.  He enjoyed classical music, photography, and fishing.  George loved fishing in Eagle River, WI, and in Ontario at the Thunderbird Resort.  George was a great cook and his ribs, among many other recipes, will be missed by the entire family.  He had a green thumb and loved spending time in his vegetable garden.  His bread and butter pickles were famous among family and friends.  In his spare time, you would find George and his friends having coffee at The Grind.  Above all, George was a family man and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

George leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Mary Lou Kinney; children, Brian (Lisa) Kinney, Elizabeth Kinney, Adam Martin; Adam’s adoptive mother, Jerri Martin; grandchildren, Aly, London, Jayda, Jacob, Adyn, Tayien, Katie; brother, Michael (Irina) Kinney; sister, Sue Ellen Bolte; step mother, Julia Kinney; four-legged canine companions, Rosie and Dezi; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends too numerous to mention.

In addition to his parents, George is preceded in death by his aunt, Audrey (Marion) Smith.

A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 17, 2023, 11:00am, at St. Richard of Chichester Catholic Church, 1503 Grand Avenue, with Rev. Jose Mario Nieto officiating.  Visitation will be from 10:00am, until the time of the Mass.
