
Racine – Henry William Kenyon, age 89, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 7, 2013.
Henry was born in La Crosse, WI on February 3, 1924 to the late Henry and Eva (nee: Fairbanks) Kenyon. Following graduation from high school, he went on to faithfully serve our country with the United States Army during WWII from 1943-45.
For nearly 30 years, Henry was employed by J.I. Case Company. He was a member of the JI Case 20 Year Club and the UAW Local #180 Retirees. Some of Henry’s interests included playing Bingo, trying for the jackpot on the slots, watching sports and flower gardening. Above all, Henry loved and cherished being in the surroundings of his entire family.
Surviving are his children, Robert (Carla) Kenyon, Elmer (Tamie) Kenyon, Rose Storheim, Linda Kenyon and Michael (Debra) Kenyon; foster sons, Jeff (Sally) LaFaive and Ronald (Peggy) LaFaive; grandchildren, Cathy Calkins, Scott Kenyon, Nikki Mueller, Patrick Kenyon, Jeremy Kenyon, Kim Baclawski, Sandy Lehman, Michelle Yates, Michael Melnik, Paul Melnik, Carrie Melnik, Michael Kenyon, Megan Peterson, Tony Kenyon and Amanda LaFaive; 19 great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary (Norman) Schaller and Nancy (Doug) Wills; brothers, Terry (Paulette) Kenyon and Les (Carol) Kenyon; sister-in-law, Dee Kenyon; brothers-in-law, Elmer Hanson and Roger (Melba) Hanson; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Henry was preceded in death by his dear wife, Bernadine M. (nee: Hanson) Kenyon on January 8, 2012; beloved son, Richard Kenyon on August 25, 2010; sisters, Vivian Kenyon, Jeanette Lynch and Violet (James) McDonald; brothers, Richard, Ronnie and Delbert “Nubs” Kenyon; Bernadine’s parents, Millard and Mae (nee: Aney) Hanson; brother-in-law, Herbert Hanson; and sisters-in-law, Dolores Clark and Muriel (Bill) Hinkley.
A memorial service celebrating Henry’s life will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Wednesday, June 12, 2013 at 7:00 pm with Rev. David Echelbarger officiating. Military honors will follow. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-7 pm. Private entombment will take place in Calvary Cemetery Garden Crypts.
