Howard E. Stamm

Feb 10, 1925 – Nov 9, 2008

KENOSHA – Howard E. Stamm, 83, died unexpectedly but peacefully at his residence on Sunday, November 9, 2008. He was born February 10, 1925, the son of the late Edward and Alice (nee: Chamberlain) Stamm. Mr. Stamm lived in Pleasant Prairie most of his life until moving to Kenosha a short time ago. Mr. Stamm served his country proudly with the U.S. Navy. On November 23, 1946, he married Evelyn “Lynne” Hasselman in St. Luke Lutheran Church. He worked for Commonwealth Edison for over 30 years, retiring in 1985 as a Shift Engineer at the Nuclear Plant in Zion. Mr. Stamm was a loyal and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Thrivent, and the V.F.W. Post 1865. He was also very active with the Shalom Center and the Soup Kitchen. Mr. Stamm was a master gardener and operated his own cider press for Lutherdale. His three greatest loves were his God, his church and his family. Surviving is his wife of nearly 62 years, Lynne; their children, John (Jackie) Stamm of Jonesborough, TN, Edward (Jane) Stamm of Janesville, WI and Terri (Richard) Goergen of Kenosha; 6 grandchildren, Kelly (Chuck) Abramson of Chicago, IL, Rebecca Stamm of Milwaukee, Ben (Crystal) Stamm of Mount Carmel, IL, Zachary Stamm of Janesville, Annah Goergen of Minneapolis, MN, Erin Stamm of Waukesha, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stamm was preceded in death by his brother, Raymond and sister, Verna. His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. in Trinity Lutheran Church (7104 – 39th Ave.) with Rev. Larry Smith officiating. A visitation will be held in the funeral home today from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and in the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will follow in Sunset Ridge Memorial Park with full military honors. The family has suggested memorials to either Trinity Lutheran Church or the Shalom Center.
