Irene Mary Braunling

Jan 3, 1926 – Oct 3, 2012

KENOSHA (FORMERLY OF RACINE) – Mrs. Irene M. Braunling, 86, passed away at Grande Prairie Health and Rehabilitation Center in Kenosha on Wednesday, October 3, 2012.

She was born in Racine on January 3, 1926, the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (nee: Juhasz) Konyesznyi.  On March 15, 1947, she married Kenneth Braunling.  He preceded her in death on June 10, 1997.  Mrs. Braunling spent most of her life in Racine.  They spent a brief period in California and moved to Alabama for their retirement years.  After Kenneth’s death she eventually moved back to this area, residing in Kenosha.

Mrs. Braunling was proud of her heritage.  As a youth she participated in many Hungarian cultural activities which included a traditional Hungarian dance group.  She was a kind and loving woman who enjoyed the simple things in life such as reading, spending time with her friends at Grande Prairie and being in the company of her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Len (Karen) Braunling of Zion, IL, Betty (Al) Wallat of Racine, Debra (Marty) Braunling-McMorrow of Cobden, IL; her grandchildren, Christopher (Jen) McMorrow of Chicago, Rachelle Wallat, Rita Wallat both of Racine, Kristen Braunling, Kathryn Braunling, Kenneth Braunling all of Zion, IL; her great grandchild, Alex Wallat of Racine and her sister-in-law, Mary Koneske of Racine.  In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Braunling was preceded in death by her brother, Frank Koneske and sister, Betty (Ted) Koloszvary.

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday (TODAY) October 5, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. for a service celebrating Irene’s life with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating.  There will be a visitation in the funeral home from 10-11 a.m.  A private interment will take place in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery.    Memorials have been suggested to the Grande Prairie Health and Rehabilitation Center Activities Department.

The Braunling family wishes to extend a special thank you to Adrian for the loving care she provided to Irene at home; the wonderful staff and family at Grande Prairie and to her roommate, Agnes who said each night, “You will go to heaven for the work you do.”
