
Racine – Jack E. Thomas, Jr., 68, passed away at his home on Wednesday, January 19, 2011. He was born in Racine on November 12, 1942, the son of Jack and Mary (nee: Mullenberg) Thomas, Sr.
Jack worked for the City of Racine Department of Public Works for 25 years, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed playing cards and casino trips; watching wrestling on TV; and traveling to visit family and friends. Jack was an avid fan of the Brewers and the Packers, and his presence will be missed this weekend during the NFC Championship game.
Jack is survived by his Mother Mary Thomas and his brothers and sisters, Bob Thomas of Knoxville, Tenn., Catherine (John) Szepesi of Racine, Al (Patty) Thomas of Presque Isle, Patty (Jim) Horvath of Iron Mountain, Mich., Dan (Cathy) Thomas of Mascoutah, Ill., LouAnn (Frank) Stritesky, Richard (Marcia) Thomas, Elizabeth (Marshall) Katt all of Racine, and Ronnie (Kathie) Thomas of Franklin; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his father, Jack was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Judy Thomas; and nephews, Ryan Katt and Tony Adams.
Funeral services will be held in St. Lucy Catholic Church (3101 Drexel Avenue) at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, January 24, 2011 with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Caledonia. Visitation will begin in the church at 9:30 a.m. Memorials to the American Cancer Society, or Odyssey Hospice have been suggested.
