James Amos Moore

Aug 26, 1939 – Jan 29, 2012

Racine – James Amos Moore, 72, was surrounded by the love of his family as he passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012. He was born in Columbus, Mississippi on August 26, 1939, son of the late Albert and Carrie (nee: Jennings) Moore.  He had been a Racine resident for most of his life. On August 27, 1973 he was married to Lela Hamilton in in Waukegan, Illinois.  Together they were blessed with eight children.

Mr. Moore was employed at JI Case for over 30 years, retiring in 1991. He was soft-spoken and a humble man of his word, and was admired by many people for is very strong work ethic and his personal integrity. He was a good man, an excellent husband and father who truly loved all of his family.  Prior to joining St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church, Mr. Moore was a very active member at Second Missionary Baptist Church. There he served in several capacities, including deacon, trustee, treasurer and even custodian. He was a spirited Packer fan, enjoyed traveling with friends, bowling, and being with his family.

He is survived by his devoted wife Lela Moore; daughters Barbra Buckley, Jacqueline Reynolds, Carmin White, and Frances McDade all of Racine, Hope Smith and Joyce Howell both of Milwaukee; his son Timothy Brown of E. St. Louis, IL; 18 grandchildren and 28 great–grandchildren; brothers Albert Moore Jr.,and Samuel Moore of Columbus, MS, and Charlie (Minnie) Moore of Buffalo, NY; sister Lee Andersen of E. St. Louis, IL; and a host of nieces, nephews, other dear relatives and good friends. He was also preceded in death by his daughter Arniessie Streeter; grandson Artis Echoles III; brothers John Moore and Ezell Moore, and sister Betty Sherrell.

Home going services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2012 at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Daryn Crenshaw officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday evening from 5pm-7pm; and in the church on Friday from 9am-10:30am.

Many thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff who have helped James and his family through his illness, especially, Dr. Thomas Goodrich, Dr. John Brennan, All Saints Hospital, DaVita Dialysis Center, and Heartland Hospice. God bless you all!

    We have missed James for a long time, We knew He was Ill and asked of his status often. We are friends from Monday Bowling. May our Lord Comfort James, we will still miss Him. He was a wonderfull Person.
