James Wesley Stabler

Aug 27, 1923 – Nov 13, 2012

Racine– James Wesley Stabler, age 89, passed away at Ridgewood Care Center on Tuesday, November 13, 2012.

James was born in Quincey, IL on August 27, 1923 to the late Everett and Bessie (nee: Booth) Stabler. On June 18, 1949 in First Methodist Church – Racine, he was united in marriage with the late Ruth J. (nee: Morelli), who preceded him in death on May 26, 2012.

James was a member of First United Methodist Church where he was a devoted Scout Master for over 13 years. During his career, he was employed by A&E Manufacturing and Massey – Harris. Among his interests, he enjoyed golfing, finding a bargain especially at rummage sales, collecting milk glass, and going to Friday afternoon movies with his beloved, Ruth. He was extremely patriotic and proud to be American. James truly appreciated the many freedoms this Country has to offer. At age 70, he fulfilled his dream of traveling to the East Coast to touch the Liberty Bell, which brought tears to his eyes. May he rest in peace.

Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Mary (Starck) Stabler; grandchildren, Teresa Stabler and Brian Stabler; great-grandson, Travion Hawkins; other dear relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents and wife, James was preceded in death by his brother, Paul Stabler; and sisters, Dorothy Stark Brown and Marjorie Henning.

Funeral services will be held in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 11:00 am with Rev. Mark R. Jones officiating. Entombment will follow in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Friday from 10-11 am.

Testimonials

Don Fresen

Many thanks to Bob and the staff of Draeger-Langendorf. This has been the hardest of times in my families lives and you were very attentive and helpful with all that needed to be done. The tribute that you created for my mother was beautiful and I shall not forget it. God bless all of you.
