John Joseph Haras

Mar 10, 1976 – Dec 4, 2014

John J. Haras, 38, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on December 4, 2014. He was born in Illinois on March 10, 1976, the son of Joseph and Patricia (nee: McLean) Haras. John was a hardworking long time employee for Derango’s since 1995. He was a witty big hearted loving family man, and a great friend to many. His passions were shooting darts and celebrating Halloween. John was an avid dart shooter for Racine Amusement and Sam's Amusement dart leagues.

John is survived by his fiancé, Tracy Fasick; step children: Will, Diana, and Hope Fasick; children: Kirsten & Gregory Haras; granddaughter, Aalyiah Fasick; grandmother, Wanda Downey of Waukesha; aunt, Sue Lasco of Burlington; and many other relatives. He was preceded in death by his mother; and brother, Mike Makela.

All are invited to visit with his family in the funeral home on Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 5:00pm – 6:45pm. A Service of Remembrance will begin at 7:00pm.

A special thank you to all of Tracy's family, Jamie & Dennis Simonsen, Jesse Villarreal, Richard Schroeder, Jodi Payson and Roy Escamilla for helping take care of John and the strong support through this battle; to our dart family for the continued thoughts & prayers; to Dr. Engle and his staff at the Cancer Center, and also all of the nursing and hospice staff on floor 3B at Wheaton Franciscan for taking great care of John.

Tracy & Family, You are in my thoughts and prayers. John was a truly great man, that affected many people’s lives. I’ll always remember the way he made me (and others) laugh during darts, joking around and having fun with friends is the best way to remember him. He will be missed deeply by so many people. With deepest sympathies, Love Shanda

Johnny you had such a contagious smile. I enjoyed our late night talks when we talked about the past and dreamed about the future. Laughing about how late it was and how crazy we were to be on the phone at such a time. I’m and so Happy I was able to be there for you to talk to and help you meet Grandma. She is sending her love and glad that you are no longer in Pain. Watch over us until we see you again. we love you Johnny,

    Aunt Sue and Grandma Wanda

That is such a nice video. My thoughts and sympathy will forever be extended to the friends and family of John. He was such a great man, and I’m glad that I was privileged to know such a man. His love for Tracy was like none I’ve ever seen. John was not a hard person to get along with, he loved everyone, even though he sarcastically hated all of us. Lol. It’s going to be a great time when we meet again pal! Rest well, I love you, Amber ♡
