
Mr. Joseph G. St. Thomas, 85, passed away at Clement J. Zablocki VA Medical Center on Saturday, May 26, 2012.
He was born in Wells, WI on May 5, 1927, the son of the late Hebert and Phoebe (nee: Tessier) St. Thomas. He served his nation with the U.S. Army Air Force during WWII. On January 19, 1948, he married Betty Jane St. Thomas. She preceded him in death on June 16, 2010.
Mr. St. Thomas retired as a truck driver from J.A. Haumerson. He was a proud patriot and life member of the V.F.W. Post 1391where he served on the Honor Guard and Firing Squad. He was also a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, the Military Order of the Cootie and the Moose and Eagles Clubs. In his earlier years he was an avid bowler and enjoyed working on home projects. He was happiest when he was in the presence of his family; especially his grandchildren.
His survivors include his children, Joseph B. (Nancy) St. Thomas of Burlington, Vickie (Tom) Schoeppe and Susan St.Thomas-Schoeppe both of Racine, Dorothy (Dennis) Jarstad of Naples, FL; his grandchildren, Eric, Kevin (Elizabeth), Joe (fiancée, Irina), Scott (Karla), Heather (Mike), Heidi, Tim (Tami), Tracy, Matthew and Kelly; his great grandchildren, Kyle, Jade, Parker, Kevin “KJ”, Angel, Josh and Degan; his great -great granddaughter, Isabella; his sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Shirley Recupero, Evelyn Joslin, Dorothy (Frank) Fumo and Berdella Strommen. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. St. Thomas was also preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy Thomas and brother, Albert “Bud” St. Thomas.
Family and friends are invited to meet at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church (6400 Spring St.) on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. for the celebration of his life and funeral Mass with Rev. Terry Huebner officiating. Military honors will follow the Mass. There will be a visitation in the church on Saturday from 10-11 a.m. A private interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum. Memorials have been suggested to the American Cancer Society.
