Joyce Elizabeth Wainwright

Sep 15, 1939 – Sep 2, 2011

Speedwell, TN – Joyce E. Wainwright, formerly of Racine, passed away on September 2, 2011 at the age of 71. She was born in Racine on September 15, 1939, the daughter of William and Edna (nee: Landerman) Valukas. Joyce was united in holy matrimony in the Evangelical United Methodist Church on July 31, 1965 to Jerry Wainwright.

Joyce worked outside the home for several years, and then became a stay-at-home mom to raise her 3 children. More than anything she enjoyed being with her family, especially her children and grandchildren. She liked to bowl and shoot pool, and also enjoyed playing cards with friends. In 2006, she and Jerry retired to Speedwell, Tennessee.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Wainwright; her children, Nikki Janish, Don Fresen, and Richard (Lisa) Wainwright; six grandchildren, Matthew, Zach, Jalisa, Leah, Destiny, and Dennis; great-granddaughter, Taytum; her mother, Edna Valukas; sister, Joann (Doug) Lantz; brother, Dennis (Eileen) Valukas, nieces, nephews; and mother-in-law, Genevieve Wainwright. She is further survived by extended family Tom and Wanda Hansen, and Gerry Chumbley and family; and dear friends, Pat LaPlante, Pam Theres, and Joyce Hayden; as well as other relatives and friends. In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by Grandpa Jack, her brother, Donald Valukas; sisters, Jackie Valukas and Janice Moore; and father-in-law, Richard Wainwright.

Funeral services for Joyce were held privately in the funeral home, and interment took place at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery on Tuesday, September 13, 2011. Memorials to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital have been suggested.

Every so often in the life of a nurse there comes that special patient that takes a piece of your heart. Joyce was that patient. She never missed a moment to banter back and forth with us and it was always a joy taking care of her. Actually, it was more of an honor and a privledge. Joyce became part of our family here and she will be missed. My heart goes out to Jerry and family. Joyce will always be one of those special patients that we hold dear to our hearts. The patient that makes us love what we do. Miss you Joyce. May you be at peace.

Testimonials

October 22, 2015

Dear Gary, You and your staff are really special people. I and my family felt so blessed that all of the funeral arrangements were in your thorough and caring hands. One helpful meeting and then you took care of all the arrangements – and we knew we need not worry about one thing.
