RACINE – Mr. Juan E. Carbajal, 83, passed away peacefully at his residence, surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 18, 2015.

He was born in Kyle, TX on May 16, 1931, the son of the late Cirilo and Josefa (nee: Elizondo) Carbajal.  On August 23, 1957 he married the love of his life, Elodia Amaya in Holy Name Church.

Mr. Carbajal was a man of faith, honor and believed in working hard.  He served his nation with the U.S. Army and worked for JI Case for over 34 years before retiring.  He was also a longtime member of both Holy Name and St. Edward Catholic Churches.  Mr. Carbajal enjoyed tending his rose and vegetable gardens and working on cars.  However, he was happiest when in the company of his family; especially when he was helping to care of his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to his loving wife, Elodia, he is survived by his children, Jose Juan (Bonita) Carbajal, Reynaldo (Mary) Carbajal, Maria Delia Carbajal, Antonio (Ann) Carbajal, Victoria (Brian) Schultz all of Racine; 15 dear and devoted grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Pedro Carbajal, Cresencio (Guadalupe) Carbajal, Ramiro Martinez, Jesus (Jodi) Carbajal, Aurora Carbajal Maria (Modesto) Oviedo all of Racine, Paul (Amelia) Carbajal of San Antonio, Santos (Cindy) Carbajal of Fort Worth, TX, Isidro (Lydia) Carbajal of Dallas, Cutberto (Linda) Carbajal, Cirilo (Melody) Carbajal both of Hawaii and Tomasa Garcia of Kenosha; his brother-in-law, Ciriaco Castro of San Antonio; special friend, Robert “Bob” Stewart of Racine; as well as many loving nieces and nephews.  He was also preceded in death by his sisters and brother, Sixta Castro, Nieves Carbajal and Fernando (Refugia) Carbajal; mother-in-law, Ricarda Faz and sister-in-law, O’Felia Carbajal

Family and friends are invited to meet in the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Sunday from 3-6 p.m. for a visitation to meet with his family.   The celebration of his life and funeral Mass will take place at St. Edward Catholic Church (15th  St and Grove Ave) on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Allen Bratkowski officiating.  There will also be a visitation in the church on Monday from 10-11 a.m.   His interment will take place in the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove.  Memorials have been suggested to St. Edward Catholic Church and the Alzheimer’s Association.

The Carbajal family wishes to thank the entire Wheaton Franciscan Medical Group; especially hospice, the heart and vascular staff, Dr. Michael Paap, Debra Hysell; as well as the Milwaukee Senior Center for Health and Longevity; especially Dr. Kanwardeep Singh and Lindsey Fabian.  Your loving and professional care was appreciated.
