Judith Ann Schommer

Feb 21, 1942 – Dec 18, 2011

Racine – Judith Ann Schommer, 69, passed away with her loving family at her side following a long and difficult battle with cancer. She was born in Elkhorn on February 21, 1942, the daughter of Richard and Genevieve (nee: Peters) Wainwright. Judith graduated from Park High School in 1960. On November 28, 1964 she was married to the love of her life, Robert Schommer. They just recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary.

Judith worked at Ametek Lamb Electric for over 25 years, retiring in 2003. She loved being around her family, and enjoyed the many family vacations and camping trips they all took together. She was a big fan of Country Western music, and looked forward to attending the Hodag Music Festival in Rhinelander every year. Judith also enjoyed building her collection of Precious Moments figurines, angels, and butterflies. Most of all she loved being a wife, mother, daughter and fun loving grandma.

She is survived by her dear husband, Robert Schommer; their children, Janna (Jamie) Clazmer, Jeffrey (Barbara) Schommer both of Racine, and Brian Schommer of Nunnelly, Tennessee; grandchildren, Lindsey and Conner Clazmer, Michael and Mara Schommer; her mother, Genevieve Wainwright of Racine; brothers Jerry Wainwright of Speedwell, Tennessee, and James (Holly) Wainwright of Oak Lawn, Illinois; nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends and her grandpuppy Chloe. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Wainwright; sister-in-law, Joyce Wainwright; and brother-in-law Norman Schommer.

Memorial services for Judith will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 23, 2011 with Pastor John Flemming officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Private interment will take place on Judith's birthday at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Memorials to Wheaton Hospice, or the American Cancer Society have been suggested.

Special thanks to the all the doctors, nurses, and staff that all provided care for Judith over the years, and to Wheaton Hospice for the special care provided to Judith and her family.
