Racine – Judith Blondel (nee: Priaulx) Johnson, 72, passed away unexpectedly in the comforts of her home with family on Monday, November 8, 2010.

Judy was born in Racine on April 17, 1938 to the late James and Jean (nee: Kirk) Priaulx. A 1956 graduate of Washington Park High School, she went on to proudly earn her teaching degree from UW-Whitewater and her Master’s Degree in Education from the National College of Education.

On December 28, 1963, Judy was united in marriage with the love of her life, Thomas Paul Johnson. Passionate about helping children learn, Judy was employed as a school teacher for over 28 years with Racine Unified School District, retiring in 1995 from Starbuck Middle School. Her interests were reading, camping, mastering puzzles, sewing and she and her family travelled all over the US, Europe, the Caribbean and Africa. Above all, she loved and cherished being in the surroundings of her entire family.

Surviving are Tom, her loving husband of nearly 47 years; their children, Susan Johnson (Dale Petrowsky), Thomas (Holly) Johnson and Sandra Johnson; grandchildren, Kara and Tyler Vance; sisters, Joyce (Paul) Sakach and Jean (Marc) Haase; brother-in-law, Gerald (Lois) Johnson; sister-in-law, Carol Johnson; special nephews, Ronald and Donald Romnek; and Joshua Adam “Porkchop” Petrowsky, Jr.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends too numerous to mention by name. She was preceded in death by Tom’s parents, Gerald and Evelyn Johnson; and brother-in-law, Richard Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at the Draeger-Langendorf Funeral Home on Friday, November 12, 2010 at 11:30 am with Rev. Luke Jacob officiating. Interment will follow in West Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be in the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 pm and on Friday from 10:30-11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family for the establishment of the “Tyler and Kara Vance College Fund” has been suggested.

My siblings and I recently had the unfortunate experience of having to plan a funeral for our beloved mother – Juana Munoz. Mark and his team took every precaution to ensure that our family and guests were protected throughout the entire process. From the funeral home to the cemetery, Mark made sure that all safety measures were in place, including providing hand sanitizers, and even arranging for additional staff members to assist with crowd control. Furthermore, Mark’s professionalism and organization was evident in every aspect of the funeral service. He coordinated seamlessly with the cemetery staff, ensuring a smooth transition from the funeral home to the final resting place. Their attention to detail and commitment to excellence truly made a difference in our overall experience. In addition to their exceptional service, the funeral home also provided us with resources and support beyond the funeral itself. They offered grief counseling services and connected us with local support groups, which proved to be invaluable during our grieving process. Overall, we cannot express enough gratitude for the exceptional service provided by Mark, and broader, Draeger Langendorf team. Their attention to detail, commitment to our safety, and genuine compassion made a difficult time a little more bearable.
