Our dear mother, Karen Linda Coleman, was called home on Saturday, April 7th, 2012 at the young age of 58, due to many ongoing health conditions. A life-long resident of Racine, she was born on July 8, 1953, daughter of the late Earnest and Doris (nee: Alexander) Koker. Karen attended Case High School, and was a devoted homemaker.
Karen was a strong woman and a fighter, but her time here with us is over. She did her job and accomplished everything she set to accomplish in her later years. Karen touched many lives and will be remembered by so many in so many different ways. To most, it’s likely we’ll all have our own stories and plenty to share, but she was a special force to everyone who knew her. She was a beautiful daughter, a wonderful sister, a remarkable aunt/great aunt, a great mother, an unforgettable grandmother and most recently, a proud great-grandmother of a beautiful baby girl.
Here on earth she leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Jodi (Darren) Hutcherson, Jeremy (Valencia) Koker, Sharee Koker, and Vladimir Walton; brothers and sisters, Dave (Diane) Koker, Dennis (Sheryl) Koker, Fred Koker, Kristine Ellis, and Kay Earl; grandchildren, Taurrean, Karisa, DeMarkus, Jeremy Jr., Lamont, Nakiya, Amiyia, Jarren, Tarvis, Tavaria, Heaven, Tyson Jr., Jerzi, Tavares Jr., Brooklyn and A’Zoya; and great granddaughter Ai’Mani; and very dear friend Rhonda Balderas; as well as a host of other family and friends. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Melvin Koker; nephew, Michael Koker; and very dear friend, Glenda Grandberry.
Memorial services for Karen will be held in the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 14, 2012 with Rev. Willie Scott officiating. Private burial will take place. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m.

Hi Mom,
I dont know where to start or what to say, I just know I’m gonna miss you in every way. I sit and go through my childhood memories, and smile because I have only good memories, from you teaching me to tie my shoe from you being up with me late night when I was sick, its crazy how I can still remember that. I even still remember my doll house. To my step brothers and sisters, thank you for sharing her with me, like I said before a women does not have to give birth to a child, a mother is a women who loves and cares for that child, and even tho I moved away and come back here and there I still chairish the wonderful memories. I love you all and see you all soon!
