MOUNT PLEASANT – Mrs. Karen L. Pingel, 81, lost a long battle with COPD and went to be with the Lord on September 21, 2025.
She was born in Shawano, WI on October 14, 1943, the daughter of the late Elmer and Effie (nee Robbins) Krause. She attended Shawano High School.
Karen married Willis “Bill” Pingel on February 11, 1961.
She retired as an attendance clerk for Olympia Brown School.
Karen was a humble person who valued her family and friends over material possessions. She protected and cared for her family with every ounce of energy she had. Karen was always punctual when it came to mealtimes. She had an appreciation for nature and enjoyed sitting in her sunroom so she could admire her flowers and enjoy watching the birds and animals that frequented her garden. Karen also enjoyed attending car shows with her husband and friends, sewing hundreds of baby hats and blankets for newborns at the hospital, and caring for her cats.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bill Pingel; her son, Mark (Kathy) Pingel; her grandsons, Mike Pingel, Steve (Kim) Pingel; her great grandsons, Carter and Collin Pingel; her brothers-in-law and sister-in-law, Rod (Peggy) Pingel, Corvin (Chris) Pingel, and Lorena Hintz; her best friends, Patricia (Don) Nielsen, and Karen Andreason; as well as many nieces and nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her daughter, Lorilyn Horn; and her siblings, Leslie, Phyllis, Alice, and Delores.

She will never be forgotten. Rest in peace mom. You’re in God’s hands now.
