Katherine Mary Leger

Dec 30, 1920 – Jul 17, 2013

Racine – Katherine Mary Leger, 92, received the promise of eternal life on Wednesday, July 17, 2013.  She was born in Hermansville, MI, on December 30, 1920, daughter of the late George and Selina (nee: Massie) Bellmore.

Katherine was united in marriage to the love of her life, Roy Paul Leger, on December 2, 1939, in Michigan.  Roy preceded her in death on December 1, 1984.

Katherine spent most of her career being a homemaker and attending to her family.  She also worked for Western Publishing for a number of years.  She enjoyed spending time making crafts of all kinds.  Katherine also loved square dancing and was a member of the Ridge Runners.  She was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church.  Above all, Katherine treasured her family and loved to spoil her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Katherine leaves to cherish her memory, her sons, Robert (Joan) Leger of Racine, Kenneth Leger of Wittenberg; grandchildren, Jill Collins, Aurelio Rodriguez, both of Cody, WY, Michael Leger of Racine, Nathan (Roxy)Leger of Racine; great-grandchildren, Amber Leger, Sarah Leger, Jonathan Leger, Benjamin Leger, all of Racine; and sister, Betty (Waino) Kleimola of Racine.  In addition to her parents and husband, Katherine is preceded in death by her brother, Willard Bellmore.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 22, 2013, 11:00am, at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 6400 Spring Street, with Rev. Terry Huebner officiating.  Visitation will be from 9:00am until the time of the service.  Burial will follow at West Lawn Memorial Park.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Betty and Waino Keimola; both of them were always there for Katherine with love and support.  Also, thank you to the staff of Hospice Alliance and the staff of Ridgewood Care Center, especially Lawrence, Stephanie, Rosa, and Cassie.

Testimonials

Thank you from Raymond Szymanski Family

I would like to thank Mike Langendorf, Bill Althaus and the rest of the staff for the wonderful celebration of the life for my father Raymond L. Szymanski who was a WWII veteran. I especially appreciate how much you really listen and the questions you asked regarding who my father was and what he was all about. Those details showed up in every part of the service from the flowers, the music, the thank you’s, pictures, obituary, outdoor military honors, etc. etc. My father would have been so grateful for the way you honored his life. I also received phone calls from family and friends indicating how beautiful the service was in every way. You and your staff definitely go above and beyond. You treat everyone like family and your compassion is so genuine. There should be more people in the world just like all of you. No words can express our gratitude for all you have done for myself, my father and our family. Thank you so very much and may the Lord bless you and yours! Sincerely Terri Carls and the Szymanski Family
